UPDATE V1.4 now

Lots of little fixes, but the main news with this version is proper C500 and PPC compatability.

The code has some work around that mean the C500's GAPI bugs dont affect it.

Also it now has a proper installer biggrin.gif (thanks Midnight)

A big thanks to all for the support + patience in getting to this version.

HISTORY
-------
F - fixed
+ - added

V1.4 - 20th September 2004
F - a very well hidden bug that sometimes caused a crash when losing last life
+ - completely new gfx engine port
+ - C500 GAPI problems work around code
+ - PPC Bezel version embedded along with SPV version (thanks Dade for the suggestion)
+ - added in all the outstanding little effects I could think of
- animated bombs
- missiles explode at top
- bomb + missile explosions reworked
- wave formation of invaders
- animated base explosions

V1.3 - 23rd August 2004
F - capped the framerate to make it playable on faster phones

V1.2 - 22nd June 2003
F - made volume controls more responsive
F - registry saves are now going where they should
F - tiny fix to exit code so that top bar is not corrupt on exit
F - improved memory handling having found a bug when doing SPVMan

V1.1 - 19th June 2003
F - mothership was not resetting when you lost your last life when on screen - sound + position
F - a comment on a french site made me review the smoothness of play - and so I have improved it - merci mon ami
F - missiles hitting bombs no longer make a sound - ala arcade - well spotted adrianfox
+ - various code simplifications (some that were real occasions to shout doh!)

V1.0 - 18th June 2003
+ - cellophane mode - this replicates the coloured plastic strips that ran across the screen to give the illusion that the graphics weren't just black and white
+ - mothership sound now loops properly - thanks to gersen for clearing that up
+ - extra life at 1500

some sounds are in place (firing, mothership, base death, alien death)

the only ones actually missing are the ones that play during the movement of the invaders

but yes, hopefully they will be in the next version - one problem is that the phone has very poor bass performance

and then we have the problem of not being able to mix sounds unless I add support for FMod

but we'll see what happens in the next version

biggrin.gif

thanks m8

I've actually got a few other projects on the go at the moment

but SPVman may well get looked at again - though more for sound stuff than for it's speed (not had many compaints about it's speed) - we'll see, maybe I'll add a turbo mode smile.gif

fantastic conversion - an acrade classic loaded with pure gameplay -

this easily beats all of the other games i have now - including doom wink.gif

is there any chance of seeing some of the other atari/arcade classics like centipede, defender, robotron & joust etc? smile.gif

This is really good, thanks. 8)

Is it ported from another space invaders or even the original code or did you write it from scratch. :?:

 One small comment, I thought is was running a tiny bit fast so I compared it to my MAME version. Speed is a tiny bit faster, maybe 5%, but the reason is seemed faster is that although there are the correct number of invaders they take up slightly too much screen width and hence turn round (and down) quicker than real space invaders.
