Hi all,
I use HTC S710 (Vox) on my Hutch/Vodafone carrier. The following GPRS settings are working for me. But, i still need some clarifications.

On internet explorer mobile,
Connections - uncheck automaticall detect settings.
Select Network - WAP Network

On Settings\Connections\GPRS

Hutch WAP
Connects to - Work
Access point - portalnmms
All other settings are default.

On Settings\Connections\Proxy

Hutch WAP Proxy

Connects from - Work
Connects to - WAP network
Proxy(name:port) - 10.10.1.100:9201
Type - WAP
username and password - blank

i can surf web pages in internet explorer mobile. The connection is verrrry slow !!!.

My questions are:
1. is there a way to change the above settings to "Internet" instead of "WAP" and make it work with GPRS.
2. I had installed OperaMini, but when i open it through JBed, it tries to connect but in the end it says unable to connect and i can only
press "Exit" button to close it.
3. When internet explorer mobile is working fine on GPRS, why cant OperaMini also work? Am i missing something here?

Please help. It looks like the hutch/vodafone customer support doesnt know of any Windows Mobile smartphones and their knowledge is below poor (abyssimal i can say !!). Thanks modaco for atleast guiding the WinMobile users the proper way.

I guess the slowness is the proxy. Which country are you in?

Well you are going via the WAP proxy.

Do you have GPRS settings for a direct internet connection?

I made the following changes and it works.

In IE change:
"Select Network: The Internet"

In Connects / Proxy settings, change to:
"Type: HTTP"
"Connects to: The Internet"
"Proxy: 10.10.1.100:9401"

i think the main thing is to change the port to 9401.
