First post... I know this has been discussed here and there, but I was wondering if someone (Paul?) might be able to hack the radio to allow the phone to play it without the need for the headset adapter to be plugged in.

I know the rationale for the adapter - used as an antenna - but let's face it, radio signals are usually strong enough that there is no need for the adapter to be plugged in (I have tried this many times on my Nokia N95 - before Nokia "upgraded" the firmware to force a headset to be plugged in - and always had very clear reception). I also lost the adapter and still would like to listen to the radio occasionally... Just a thought.

Depends how it checks for headset really. If it just checks a reg key for headset mode it might work... Hmmm, I wonder...

If anyone can do it, it's you! By the way, thanks for all the great ROM updates!

Why would you want to do this anyway? Samsung didn't make it that way to hassle you, there's a reason for the adapter.

Try bundling up your headphone cable, that'll already make the stations pretty hard to listen to.

I tried with a headset corded adapter and didn't work. It will be great to have a small adapter with a small antena in order to use a bluetooth headset. That's why I didn't buy one for now.

Sure enough if you edit HKLM\System\State\Samsung\EarJackStatus and set it to 1, it lets you load the radio app!

Won't let me hit play tho?

most likely the play routine is looking for the adapter in that case Paul.....
now I would laugh hard if you set it to 2 in the reg value that it magically works....a Samsung security hack or something lol

but what it does do is allow the Equaliser option on the Touch Player which is dimmed otherwise (with no headphones)
