CamerAware is a really cool app even without Camera notifications...for trip tracking. But how great would it be for we US users if USA camera databases were included?!!!

Would you be interested if there was a way to include US databases of Speed Cameras?
If so, post here and let Paul know!

Do you have information on US speed camera databases? Post here as well to help Paul out!

Are you a US resident currently using CamerAware? Post here and let Paul know!

Thanks
Nick

I'd love to include US cameras in the DB... if only I could find a source smile.gif

Possibly of use:

As an example, here's the NJ coverage from the file linked above...

I see the biggest problem as these are volunteer based being frequency of updates and accuracy of data.

We don't have photo enforcement in Minnesota (we did, but they were dis-allowed by the state supreme court).

Any word on if or when this program will have US camera locations added?

I live in Arizona and our state government has recently figured out that Speed cameras are an untapped source of revenue.

I'll look to create an Arizona coverage map for you!

I don't have any good GPS based sources but here is what I could find on the Metro Phoenix area. From what I can tell, most of the cities have opted for the Red light hybrid speed cameras. Which do both speed and red light enforcement. I guess the moral is not to speed up when your close to a red or you'll get a double ticket. Anyways Arizona is set to install 150 new cameras this year and thats not including the new mobile ones.

Scottsdale http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/photoradar/locations.asp

Mesa http://cityofmesa.org/police/traffic/redlight_cameras.aspx

Tempe not very good location info http://www.kpho.com/seenon5/14485942/detail.html

Chandler http://www.chandleraz.gov/default.aspx?pageID=59

Avondale The intersections of Dysart Rd at McDowell Rd and Dysart Rd at Van Buren St are currently equipped with red light enforcement cameras.

Phoenix They call these red light cameras but I think they are also speed ones https://www.violationinfo.com/AZPHX/html/info.htm

I just bought and installed this software for my Moto q9h, and everything seems to be working correctly -- sort of.

I just tried it out by driving 20 or so miles so I can see it work on the fixed cameras on Loop 101 in Scottsdale AZ. They been there for at least 2 years, and I was expecting them to be in the database. Or maybe they are and I did something stupid???

It sees my internal GPS just fine, shows my speed and direction and a green box. The log window says something like 17000+ cameras loaded.

What I realize, after driving home, is that I never rebooted after installing .net 3.5, nor the CamerAware application. Did that screw things up, or is it possible the cameras aren't in the database?

How do you add a camera to the database? I didn't have the upload stuff setup while driving, so I don't know if that needs to be active or not. (what is the purpose of the upload?)

Thanks

They are speed cameras on a major freeway here in Phoenix / Scottsdale. They were the ones who got the State rolling on what a great F(*king idea they are. Our Governor wants them on all freeways now. sad.gif There are three sets in a span of about 8 miles or so, on each direction. Most are easy to spot, and a couple are hidden under an underpass.

I don't run red lights so that isn't an issue, but they've turned most red light cameras to speed on green as well. I guess they figured out not that many people run reds, and they need to pay for the cameras some how.

Am I missing an option to add locations, since my phone (moto q9h) has a 320x240 screen?

Thanks

Yeah I drove by those and did not get an alert either. I added one or two when I went past them again, but I still have not gotten any alerts.

Is there some issue with the combination Speed / Red light cameras? Because most of the new ones in AZ are going to be combination cameras.
