HELP !!

Each time i turn on my xbox 360 console i have to attempt to sign in manually even though i have selected (more than once) that my profile should sign in automatically. It never does this so i press the guide button then follow to "sign in" i select my profile then press sign in and the little logo on the bottom just keeps whiring round and round until it finally gives up and says couldn't sign you in - test connection or B to cancel. If i press B the box that, that appears in goes blank then a couple of minutes later it'll flick between that and the usual box on the left hand side. ON the way when it flicks back it'll say that i'm signed in but i'm actually not...so i sign in again and it does it normally but i want to know why it does this and does anybody experience the same problem and if so does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks
