Numberingplans.com giving the WRONG IMEI INFO???

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Quick question. I was trying to find some information on an IMEI number for an old phone and I find that the web site http://www.numberingplans.com/ gives the wrong network for this IMEI.

Has anyone ever got this problem?

This is the IMEI: 89340********* (IMEI removed)

The company, as printed on the phone should be AMENA (spanish), but for some reason I get a VODAFONE if I look in http://www.numberingplans.com/

???

Any help welcomed! ;)

What sort of information were you trying to find about the phone?

If the site you went to gave the correct information perhaps amena has a suppliers agreement with vodafone? otherwise the site could be wrong.

Please do not post a full IMEI on a public forum.

It all depends who registered the IMEI etc etc.

Eg.

My Qtek 8310 comes up as an imate SP5

My T-Mobile MDA Vario II comes up as a HTC TyTN

So like awarner said it was probably a deal done between vodafone and amena or some such.

Thanks to both of you, and sorry for puting the IMEI ;)

I just had the curiosity of why a phone sold by a particular company actually came up with a diferent company after searching information through the IMEI.

I wasn't sure if the web page was not working properly.

From your answers I asume then that it the IMEI corresponds to the company that registers it, not necesarily the one who sells it, even if it brands it, correct?

Thanks again
