Calling all Wiki experts

16 posts in this topic

In response to popular demand, i'm in the process of establishing a MoDaCo Wiki at http://wiki.MoDaCo.com.

You can head on over already, and you'll notice you are already logged onto the Wiki with your MoDaCo credentials (log out and back in if this hasn't happened yet - I only flipped the switch on this earlier today :D).

I am now looking for people, ideally with previous with Wiki experience, to help me form the layout for our Wiki. As is the beauty of a Wiki, you - the community - can even start adding content immediately!

If you are interested in getting involved in the Wiki, either with suggestions for content, adding content or becoming part of the Wiki moderation team, please reply to this topic! ;)

P

PS MoDaCo look-and-feel for the Wiki is on the way :(

As a moderator Dade you already have full Wiki rights, so knock yerself out ;)

Hope it turns out better than the (frankly awful) HTC Wiki tho!

Someone to write an 'idiots guide to wiki' would be useful, or a link to a good one.

I'm still very much wiki-newbie myself... ;)

I like it. I like it. Thats going to be one HUGE Wiki by the time it gets going. Where to even start! I gotta go look at some Wikis myself to even see what TYPE of information to include. Nice Job.

P

Data Standards: Information on CSD/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSOPA. Eg, Various features of each, which generation (2G, 2.5G, 3G etc), Theoretical max bandwidth (upstream and downstream), implemented frequencies, which networks its been deployed on/will be deployed on and when.

Operating systems: MS codename (magneto, crossbow etc), outline of new features on release, updates/aku's features, screen shots, link to page with list of generic tweaks for that OS. Can be split into PPC and smartphone....

Have I missed anything else?

It changes too, it's derived you see - it will use the MoDaCo Stylesheet, images etc.

I'm still not 100% sure about how the Wiki is gonna look, hence the standard mediawiki style appearance atm (which I actually quite like!)

Sounds about right. Glossary will contain some of that info too.

I hope so, I think it has the potential to be really great.

That said, it is only as good as the contributions everyone makes ;) Altho I expect to be doing a fair bit initially, fleshing out structure etc., it depends on community contributions to grow and in particular to keep up to date.

I am considering how I can repay those contributions by providing, say, a version of the Wiki you could run offline on your phone, earn 'points' for contributing that then can be used for other forum benefits (such as adfree) etc. etc.

Other people have done Wikis, I want MoDaCo to be innovative... so watch this space :D

Bah you beat me to it Paul :) I was just about to add a huge stack of data/network standards to the glossary when it told me you'd already done HSDPA and HSUPA :)

/me edits wiki code etc to fit
