does anyone know of a reliable app that uses GPRS to up load my gps coords to another phone (obviously via a server or something). It should be possible? Would be great for finding friends in big cities or busy outdoor festivals etc.

Just a thought.

Co-Pilot can upload your co-ordinates to a webpage that you can give people the link to. They can then see where you are. There is also the Modaco app - CamarAware which does a similar thing and links to a viewable webpage (example).

Don't know of anything that does phone to phone though.

Try http://www.tomtracks.com/ and http://free.3dtracking.net/home.aspx .

Both are free, small programs that will upload your settings to a web server which can be viewable by others.

Some of the gps software can txt your coordinates, but then the recieving person has to input these into a web page like google earth, so its a bit fiddly
