However I am unable to get the HTC device to sync email, contacts, etc with my exchange server. Is it possible to use a self signed certifiacte for this or should I purchase a 3rd party one? In this case, since you control this server, and you know that the server you're connecting to is is trustworthy, a self-signed certificate is perfectly fine to use.
