Welcome to 2008 @ MoDaCo, and thanks for being here :(

We've got some great new things planned for 2008, we're going to working real hard at staying great at what we do best (helpful and friendly community, insightful articles), putting real effort into things we could improve on (top drawer news coverage), things we know you really want (podcasts, more video content) and of course some amazing innovations in the traditional MoDaCo fashion :D

With that in mind, this post is YOUR chance to have a say about what you'd like to see on MoDaCo in 2008! What do you like? What don't you like? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of?

It's you, the valued members, that make the site what it is, so help us shape the next year :D

What I would really welcome is a weekly (?) summary of the forums. I don't have time (and/or I don't remember) to frequent the forums that regularly, so I'm sure that I'm missing lots of interesting news, questions, debates etc. A really simple newsletter type of article (email? or just post on the main page - or anywhere it can get included in an RSS feed) that highlighted some of the more unusual or popular threads would be great - and would encourage me to visit more often which is - I guess - the main point of any improvements from your perspective!!

There is a problem in that I don't really care about many of the forums - the general ones and the one for my phone are what I'm interested in - so it's perhaps not as simple as I've made it out to be. So if that's too much effort, a "real" simple publicising of the "top" threads in each forum on a weekly basis would be fab... "top" being number of views I guess.

A weekly newsletter is definitely on the cards... probably based on the 'Front Page News', but a 'most active threads' bit on there makes sense too!

I like the "most active threads" idea! Could be just a list of links at the bottom maybe :(

Personally I did like to see some way for the community to develop it's own applications where the software houses leave gaps. We can get a choice of dozens of Today screen calendar plugins or obscure medial dictionaries (for example) but nobody's made a "Panic Button" application for lone workers (for example, not a very good one perhaps)

Things like CallHistory2Calendar are of real value and every day use to me, but the market isn't big enough for the Big Boys to bother with them.

I say that as a non-developer - something which I hope to change - but Paul and I discussed (very briefly) the potential for a Developer Fund type of thing, where people chip in and community developers make a little money creating things the members really want.

This would be cool, i'll put some more brainpower into how it would work!
