Guest acedj123
Has anyone figured out a mod/hack for the Q Global to have the aplha tag display the network name of the carrier that the phone is currently subscribed to? I'm aware of the 4EON feature that can be added to the account to show when you're "Off Network" but most Motorola phones in the past have had a mod to allow the phone to display the actual name of the current carrier. Any info would be appreciated!
Guest GraemeCR
Has anyone figured out a mod/hack for the Q Global to have the aplha tag display the network name of the carrier that the phone is currently subscribed to? I'm aware of the 4EON feature that can be added to the account to show when you're "Off Network" but most Motorola phones in the past have had a mod to allow the phone to display the actual name of the current carrier. Any info would be appreciated! Mine came with the carrier logo (Alpah tag) displayed. I modded to replace the carrier name. So the answer for you may be in the following post that I made elsewhere: ________________________________ Here's a way to replace ATT on the HomeScreen for the Smartphone Home Screen. I used XML Notepad 2007, as the screenshots show. 1. Retrieve a copy of motorola.home.xml from the phone. Using AciveSync's "Explore" function you will find that there are many .xml files in the main folder, including cingular.home.xml and motorola.home.xml. (In the folder of the stock AT&T Q 9h you will find cingular.home.xml also, but not the motorola.home.xml.)2. Open motorola.home.xml in XML Notepad. 3. Rename the text in the "tile" from 'Smartphone' to something else. (In this example, 'Smartphone - GCR') See screenshots. 4. In the "carrier" plugin change the label type to 'text' from 'element' (Right click 'Carrier"...Change To ---> 'Text') 5. Replace '' with the text of your choice. (In this example, 'GraemeCR') 6. Save the file in another location on your PC. (In other words, I retained the motorola.home.xml name.) 7. Copy the new motorola.home.com to the folder. 8, Cycle POWER. 9. Go to Settings and select your new Home Screen Layout. ________________________ So my thought is that you look for the "carrier" plugin and see what the settings are.... maybe the .. is not set as "element" as mine was before the edit. See #4 above. Hope this makes sense ..... and helps.
