ROM Building for Dummies (i900) using SYOK

Hi,

I know this is my 1st post here. I have a Samsung Omnia i900. Im new to Samsung ROM building, but I have done my share for the Motorola E398 and V3i (Long time ago)

I've been reading a lot about how to make your own Roms for the Omnia.

What I want is changing a stock update (I'd love wm6.5).

I'd like an origional rom from wich I'll just remove a lot of crap wich I don't use.

Now I've tried everything described in the how-to, but I can't get it to work.

Everytime I try to extract the roms, I get a message saying Access Denied (Soz for not posting a screenshot, but I have a dutch version of Windows)

There are a lot of extra files (Including the 3 new maps when extracting)

But the map for OEM and SYS is empty. (Both of these have the error)

I tried with a lot of ROMS here and all give the same error.

When I try to extract an official rom (Downloaded from the Samsung site) it doesn't unpack anything, giving the message no files can be found.

Now I have installed everything (.net framework including all updates and the C++ packages) but nothing seems to help. I even tried installing Visual C++.

I have also tried on 2 PC's. 1 is a Windows 7 PC, running VMWare XP. (I try it on the XP machine) the other PC is just regular XP.

Both give the same Access Denied error.

I searched the forum, but can only find 1 person with the same error, but didn't see any ways around it.

Is there any specific ROM i can use for my intentions? a clean, out-of-the-box ROM from wich I can remove my unwanted software? I don't need to add anything.

I know I can use many of the great roms here on my phone, but most still have either too much (unwanted) software, or apps wich I do want to keep are removed.

I hope anyone can help me here :)

OK, so now I found a ROM that is completely unpacking (zi900DXHH3.exe - found it somewhere in this forum)

Only thing is, I have absolutely no idea whis verson of OS this has or if it'll work on my phone. (Dutch i900, official software was XKHK3, telfort provider firmware)

I'm still looking at the manuals for cooking to understand a bit more

http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ook-custom-rom/

http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...900-using-syok/

Can anyone please tell me where I can get a rom wich is unpackable with all the default Samsung apps?

As I said before, I tried the official update files from Samsung itself (XKHJ3), but that doesn't unpack.

At the moment my phone is running Yonn_i900_M2D_GTX_Premium_23128_XPR (Works perfect!)

Wich has the Start-button on the bottom left corner. I prefer a rom (as new as possible) wich has the start-button still on the top-left. (I use a lot of MobiPocket Reader, the program doesn't know how to handle the lower start-menu)

I did try a search, but those tend to point to posts made over a year ago.

I also tried 2 downloads by searching trough Google, but both had a virus-warning. Wich the roms here don't give.

Thanks in advance, I hope someone can help me.

I've read a lot and finally found a version wich I like very much.

I'm now running WM6.5 DXIA5 build 21899 (From the topic of Untouched versions)

Only when I try to extract the rom, the maps OEM and SYS are empty, so I can't personalize the version.

Again, I tried searching the forums for an origional version, but still can't find any.

Can someone please link or send me the (real) untouched version of DXIA5 Build 21899?

I want to remove the following software from the phone (All other programs can stay on the phone):

- Getting Started

- Live Search

- Marketplace

- Microsoft Myphone

- MSN Weather

- MSN Money

- Internet Sharing

- Search Phone

- Help

- Connected Home

- FM Radio

- Google Search

- Favorite Settings

- Modem Link

- RSS Reader

- Podcast

- Search Widget (Bing)

- Streaming Player

- TV Out viewer

- Video Editor

I want to add:

- MemMaid

- SPB Mobile Shell

- SPB Phone Suite

- Slide 2 Unlock (S2U2)

- G-Alarm

- PHM Register Editor

- Total Commander

- MobiReader (Mobi Pocket Reader)

- Dutch Language (If possible)

Bro....

It dont work like that. DXIA5 is a regionalised build of 20270 (standard WM6.1 build).

21899 refers to a later build that may or may not (NEVER as far as i am concerned) made it to the Omnia.

To get that build look to xda-devs (LINK HERE) its not hard to find bro ;)

There is also NO such thing as 'REAL' or 'UNTOUCHED' version of that ROM. You are asking for Microsoft builds that are LEAKED to us, the devs. There wont be an untouched version. These versions are hacked to work on Omnia, or any other device.

If i am wrong, shoot me down. If not, then please do some more reading before you ask for things that cannot be linked to.

I also think this might eb why nobody replied to you earlier.

no probs bro....

the numbers that you see are versions of the actual OS...there are multiple branches too, all specialising in different areas.

The XDA link will help you a great deal to understand this.

You can use Windows Vista,XP or 7 (like me :( ) to build ROMs, but flashing is for XP (we all know :D ) I only installed one dll file in Windows 7 to begin cooking. On XP you need all the above, read the guide. ;)

Also, if you get any errors during this process, it is recommended that you start a fresh with a clean kitchen. Always wash your hands and take pride in your hygiene.

Reqirements

An official or unofficial standard ROM

SYOK from here....

http://winmo.sztupy.hu/syok.html

Select SYOK downloader and start reading the guide....

Enjoy and thanks to PaSSoA, Sztupy, sector, qbus, lastnikita, Lufeig & Secany. Also, to any others who also created software used or contributed to these projects. Big respect & Thanx from Shokka!

I hope this helps, if you have everything ready (installed) you should not get any errors. If you do, post them in the threads and you will get help (hopefully).

Good luck.

i want the dll file that you installed it on windows 7 i need it necessary becz i used windows 7 and i want to setup ROM on my Mobile, plzzzzzzzzzzzzz upload the DLL file as soon as you can

No need to SHOUT!!

Make kitchen, when it ERRORs, GOOGLE the missing dll. Easy mate.

I dont have Omnia, kitchen or anything. Believe in yourself and try to manage without asking for something.

When you get error, WHEN you get error (as u might NOT!)

Gone .....

Hi, I have two questions 4u:

1) on your doc (first post) you say:

"The one in the kitchen ‘cab2pkg.cmd’ needs to be used in the cmd form..."

I can't find the cab2pkg.cmd in the omnia-eng folder but only the cab2pkg.exe

Are there any parameters for cab2pkg.exe? (like a particular destination folder)

-----

2) on your doc (first post) you say:

"PS: IN GENERAL PRACTICE, YOU CANNOT COOK A COOKED ROM"

why can't I do this? Can I disassemble and reassemble a cooked rom?

thx 4 ur help!

Max
