You should also add that flashing won't work on USB slots older than 2.0 (1.1 I think?)

First time I flashed I used a old pc without usb 2.0 slots and got very scared x'D

Thanks for your tutorial

Hi guys!

I own an Omnia not so long ago, but I flashed my phone successfully for around 15 times so the following method works ... at least for me:

Use XP, backup all your data on device memory and do a hard reset before flashing!

1. Install Activesync and Samsung modem driver, reboot.

2. Sync phone with activesync (favorites are enough, enable wireless options in check box, enable USB port in settings).

3. While plugged in go into file explorer and look for dataconnections.exe in windows folder on the Omnia. Even if it's on phone, change it to phone (if it says it can't be changed, do another hard reset then try again). On the computer if you see a notification bubble that says something about Samsung driver, you are ready to flash the rom (check ports on the computer).

4. Click on the start menu on the XP, press run and browse for the rom you want to flash (the exe file).

5. You will see a window that says waiting for the device. Do a soft reset on the phone or turn it off then on and you are ready to go when you see the Samsung Mits ... in notification bubble.

6. Click on start and don't unplug the phone until calibration (unplug if boot screen won't disappear). After flashing and calibration do a hard reset, but at least a soft reset.

Your done!

With this method you can avoid the errors caused when the loader changes to the phone part according to people smarter than me (... professionals). :)

As said before you should use a laptop on battery, shut down every unneeded programs, plug out every USB devices, (use factory cable but this is not confirmed), the phone should be 100% charged but at least 50%.

And I have a question as well: if I flash a rom without the phone part, how can I flash the phone part as well? With the usual method or this requires something else?

Hi. I have windows 7 x86 and i've managed to flash my omnia in about 10 minutes :) without any vmware and other stuff. You need this.

1. I900Executor

2. Vista Grandprix

3.Samsung modem driver(it worked the one for xp) but search for the vista version. It works too.

4. One good rom (the one you want to flash).

Install the modem driver

FIRST STEP.

You need to disassamble the rom with the executor. It will extract it in a new folder. In that folder you will have 4 files(eboot.nb0, pda.bin. phone.bin and customer.csc).

SECOND STEP

Open GrandPrix

2.1 Choose Grandprix LV image in the "select profile" sectiom

2.2 Loader -> eboot.nb0

2.3 Pda -> pda.bin

2.4 CSC -> customer.csc

2.5 Phone -> phone.pda

Third Step . Uncheck the "Start download immediatly" button.

Fourth Step - Connect Omnia (make sure it's on active sync mode) and soft reset it. Press Detect as fast as you can. The "Start Download" should highlight. Press it. It will require to do so 3 times, for each component. And this is it. In about 5 minutes you will have a brand new flashed omnia. After flashing it will reset itself 2 times, so don't be scared.

This is about the flashing. If you get the network lock error after flashing, i also found a simple solution.

Get the PHM registry editor(it's free) and the Samsung Omnia Unlock (it's here on the forum).

1) Download attached ZIP file

2) Copy all three .lnk files to your Omnia

3) Open a registry editor and go to HKCU\System\State\PHONE, and write down the first 6 digits of IMSI entry (eg 22610 "Orange Romania"

4) Run Lock.ink

5) Enter the 6 digits you wrote down from above in the MCC/MNC section

6) As NCK, enter 12345678

7) Tap OK (it should tell that SIMLock enabled)

8) Run Status.lnk to see if its locked

9) Run Unlock.lnk

10) Enter code entered in point 6 (12345678)

11) You're Unlocked!

If you don't have the imsi entry active, just add a new string called IMSI in the registry, add some numbers(at least 8) but make sure the LAST 5 digits are those from your carrier(find it on wikipedia). After this stage, repeat the steps 4 to 11 ;). Good luck. I hope i made myself clear

Well, is your computer older than 7 years? :). If not, i don't think you have usb 1.1 on it ;). About the Sim, i never removed it and i don't have a suplimentary memory card on it. I think it's better to remove the storage card.

I'll have to find out though cause I'm wanting to upgrade,

What ROM version did you use exactly? You can't use i908 roms on i900. This means you have to find a proper rom. And i didn't quite understood. You have i900 or i908?

First post here. I'm not entirly new to flashing and fiddling with devices but never done the Omnia before though. However in your instructions at 2.5 Phone -> phone.pda (or phone.bin, wich one?) you should get a file like that. Everything has gone fine so far but with the rom found here:

http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...-i900-by-ryrzy/

I'm not getting any phone.pda. Most likely I'm doing something wrong when extracting the EXE but what I don't know.

this means the rom you are trying to flash on your omnia doesn't have the phone.bin part. There's no problem in that. the existent phone.bin will remain intact. In fact, the chances to brick your omnia are smaller without it :). Or you can search for a phone.bin from a 6.5 rom and get it from there. Compile the phone with the rest and it will work like a charm ;). So, go ahead. And sorry for not mention this before, but the roms i've been flashing around were complete B). My bad ;). Good luck.

I'm no specialist on this, but i think i saw a thread where they said the i908 roms don't work on i900 and viceversa. If I may recommend you something, search around for an ultralite rom(naked :)). Flash it and install your applications after. You will gain some speed and alot of device memory and storage. I have 135mb rom and 70 Mb ram free all the this way, and i have about 30 applications installed B).

The ROMS of ryrzy does not include a phone.bin for less chance of bricking your omnia... you can flash only the pda+eboot+csc... (without the phone.bin) it's less risky...

I've had same problems before... You must flash back to earlier versions... (I particularly used DXHH1) I only flashed the eboot+pda+csc... Then flash to your desired ROM...

Here's the link for DXHH1 >> DXHH1 i900 Omnia
