Migration from Blackberry, Symbian, Windows Mobile to Android

6 posts in this topic

Hi Guys,

Well we did it, Sprite Backup is out for Android, shameless plug...

http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/android

We have released our first beta of Migration technologies, which is supported in Sprite Backup... Now you can download a client for Blackberry, Symbian or Windows Mobile, and migrate easily to a cool Android phone,

Bear with us, this is the first beta, and there is a heck of a lot of improvements happening and being tested by enthusiastic beta testers

On that note, please contact us if you want to migrate, or be a tester

Julian,

I have a Hero turning up tomorrow, so I will use your app to migrate my E51 data over to it and let you know how it goes. Just spent a couple of hours sorting out my contacts in Google, so will skip them, ho hum :)

this sounds very cool and very similar to a long-lost WM project from about 8 years ago. Looks interesting. how do I sign up?

Likewise. I could have used this a month ago. Did some searching for migration tools to go from Blackberry to Android & came up with zilch. If this is a workable option I hope it gets increased visibility.

Do you know about BirdieSync?? Apologies for preaching to the (probably) already initiated, but BirdieSync bypasses Windows ActiveSync, and also works for Thunderbird rather than MS Outlook.

It is, of course, possible to open a gmail account, export your Thunderbird contacts to gmail and then retrieve them on your Android phone but I, along with a lot of others, do NOT want to put our contacts into the Google 'cloud.' I know Birdy has talked about an Android version, but he hasn't produced one yet. If you and Birdy were to swap ideas, who knows what sort of great app you could come up with?!? ;)

Go on..... send him an email....... ;)
