ILLEGAL CONTENT I'd like to just reaffirm MoDaCo's position regarding piracy and illegal content in the light of some recent questions / postings. Posts will be censored by myself or my moderation team if the contain or link to: Illegal / pirated / cracked software or sites that host such software
Nintendo emulators / ROMs or sites hosting them (in light of Nintendo's legal stance)

      CUSTOM ROMS

You may discuss and post links to custom device ROMs on MoDaCo, provided the following rules are adhered to: ROMs must not be hosted directly in topic via the MoDaCo attachment system
ROMs must not contain any illegal 3rd party software (this includes trial versions included without permission)
ROMs must give full credit to the original author
This decision has been taken in light of the huge amount of interest in this area of device customisation within the community, and member feedback! Please note that custom ROM discussion should be kept in specific device sub-areas, (e.g. Kaiser.MoDaCo.com for Kaiser based devices). Should be interesting to see what can be done now that this thing has been rooted. ;)

Blazingwolf, I was an avid fan of your work when I owned an Omnia. ;)

And now that we both own a Droid, should I expect the custom rom treatment from you for this phone as well?

I have no idea what to expect with what can be done (visually) for a rooted Android phone, as I have minimal Linux experience and I am brand new to the Android community. Really I feel no need to tinker with the advanced underpinnings of the OS and just want to see what the UI modding community can come up with.

I really want to play around with the HTC Sense UI on my Droid, as I like the UI but liked the Droid more than the Droid Eris, especially due to the more advanced hardware (which should be a boon for the ROM community as well).

Well, I still have some learning to do as this is my first Android device also. I wouldn't expect to see anything from me anytime soon as I have lots of learning to do. I do plan to start making ROMs for the Droid though I just don't know when it will happen.

Yea I know close to zero about Linux its kinda different than making a rom for the omnia. I would figure that if we had a type of kitchen environment like we have now it would be a bit easier but still. I know when I get mines I'm gonna try to learn how to make apps.

BW & destrekor, I'm glad to see a familiar face in here, too. I also had the Omnia. I'm looking forward to see what the Droid can do for me.

Well, they are extremely close to loading the Nexus One ROM on the Droid. ;) I don't think it will be much longer before we see custom ROMs.

Other things that can be done now is skinning. Screen shots can be done with Drocap2.

Blazing wolf, Your roms were the ony reason I used the omnia for so long. I know nothing of wm6 wm6.x but linux... I KNOW linux.. tht's what I do... I prob. don't have the free time to work on roms but I'm psyked that the world of linux is gettting so much larger with the droid OS...
