vendor protected applications

I've got an unrooted phone with some crap on I don't need wasting my free space and I can't get rid of them, because Acer decided I should have to keep their junk. I can't delete them from the phone themselves nor via adb while running the phone.

Any hints until we get a recovery image (which I'm happy to provide if someone tells me how to create one)?

(hint: the root-solution has already been solved here)
