What sat nav software comes with the Milestone in the UK?

6 posts in this topic

I am currently using an iPhone 3GS (great web browser, great media terminal, ok gamer, poor at most other things, very poor phone, downright dangerous as a sat nav) on which Copilot lags terribly and coninuously drops the gps connection, sometimes for several minutes at a time.

Is anyone using their Milestone for car navigation? If so what software do you use and is the exerperience any good?

Isn't anyone running a GPS app on their Milestone? I just need to know that there is a decently featured piece of software available and the GPS can hold the signal properly before I buy into the platform.

I think GPS tracking of the milestone is on par/slightly better than my Tom Tom 930. (but I only did some limited testing, I´m waiting for my carmount + charger to arrive) The Motonav software is pretty decent (except for the fact that the voice keeps warning me that I´m over the speed limit) I didn´t try copilot 8 yet but I think it runs even decent on lower spec-ed Android phones.

CoPilot Live 8 had a great update to make the GPS fix very solid on the Droid and Milestone. I used it on a Magic, Hero and now on my Milestone. Customer service has always been good and I have been able to transfer my original purchase over to my different handsets by sending ALK my new handset IMEI and they have within hours sent back a new activation code without extra payment. It costs around 26 quid for UK and Ireland and between 50 and 60 quid for either whole of Europe or USA Maps But that is a one off fee, and considering it is transferrable between android devices and constantly easily updated via Android Market, it is brilliant value.

The Maps are also on the SD card, so less data transfer involved (Though there is some for aGPS I think) and it can run perfectly well with no data connection.

I've been well pleased with the product since I first purchased about 10 months ago :)

Thanks Gents (or possibly Ladies or Lady and Gent I suppose). That's what I was hoping to hear.

i use copilot on the milestone, i had it installed on my htc touch hd, or blackstone which ever name u prefer, i deactivated the windows version and then downloaded the app for android from copilots site.

installed the app and then registered with my serial and then added my email and password, was working without having to pay. suprisingly i asked copliot support on twitter, they said it wasnt possible... i had already got it working by then lol

very good exactly the same to use as the software on windows.
