Now Updated for Official Verizon Omnia ROMS:

CF03, DC22 & Latest DF14

Hi All,

I wanted to update this post as we have had two official ROM updates since I originally wrote this. The most current ROM for the Verizon Omnia i910 is version DF14. It can be found here: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/fa...mp;AT_ID=281979.

I have tested all the attached cabs and verified that they all work on all three version of the ROMs listed above.

First off I would say how much I enjoy this forum. Kudos to all the chefs and members. There are an incredible amount of talented people who are on this forum and I have learned a great deal and have been a confirmed flash-aholic for some time. With many of our best chefs converting to the Android platform we poor WM folks are feeling a little abandoned. Lyorite is one of the few remaining chefs working with the Omnia i910 and his ROMs are excellent. But with so few new ROMs available I thought I would go back to the basic. In addition with support waning for the i910 some people new to this forum may be hesitant to flash to a custom ROM due to the lack of continued support.

So let me share with you my personal observation.

After flashing WM6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.x ROMs I came to the realization that I would never find the "PERFECT" set-up for my Omnia. I've used Storm's, WereMike's, Wozer's, Lyorite's, Blazingwolf's, et all roms. I've used Titanium, M2D, Flotanium and others. I've spent the better part of 9 months playing, tweaking, flashing and overall just messing with my phone and I realized I'll never be completely happy unless I cook my own ROMs (which I may tackle at a later date) or design my own phone (I'm not an engineer). With that being said I decided to flash to the most current stock Verizon 6.1 DF14 ROM and just add the registry edits and programs I need and use. I no longer have any problems with anything I use my phone for. No dropped calls, no problems with SMS or MMS, no sleep of death, internet tethering works, Wi-Fi works, GPS works, long battery life, it's fast and most importantly, EVERYTHING JUST PLAIN WORKS!!!

I will probably never be completely happy with my phone but I am satisfied enough to now leave it alone and actually USE IT instead of play with it. You wouldn’t believe how much extra time I now have on my hands. So with that being said here is a list of the registry edits and cabs I used to get my stock Verizon i910 as useful as I needed it and get my life back.

First, back up your contacts, calendar, pics, music, ect. then flash the stock Verizon 6.1 DF14 Rom. Hard reset your phone then edit your registry and install the cabs. Install any other software you use on a regular basis and enjoy your phone.

I have included the registry settings along with the cab files (located at the bottom of this post) for your use. I also included a registry editor located in the file downloads below.

I'm glad you posted this, because I am trying to decide if I want to flash to a cooked rom - I do NOT want to spend hours and hours dealing with bugs, issues, etc .. I just want to improve on my phone the way it is now. It works fine for the most part, but I'd just like to make it faster, use less battery, and improve on functionality / looks.

Its also very nice to hear the opinion of someone who has tried them all, as you are sharing months of experience with a noob like me, potentially saving me months of frustration.

I like your setup here and would like to try it - how do I go about this? I have no idea where to find those tweaks / cabs you listed. If you are unable / not allowed to post them here, perhaps you could email them to me or at least let me know where I can download them myself through email or PM? Thanks!

Indeed! I like it but the first thing came to mind is Ummm..M2D would be good to have on it too! :D

Good luck with withdrawals..

Like I said, I've tried everything. I liked Waremike's New ROM M2D a lot. I've just decided to go back to the basics. For me it's all about making sure everything works without having to spend hours reading posts and downloading updates. I'll be sticking with what I have for now. :D

FWIW, one of the main reasons I looked forward to flashing was to regain memory used by apps VZW installed that I would never use. The base ROM was simply too bloated with stuff I would never need, and if I had very many of my own apps or such that had to be installed in device memory I was just SOL.

I've tried ROMs cooked by most of the Chefs and they were all excellent, with a few exceptions here and there. I've been using Lioryte's 28223 for several weeks now with NO issues or bugs at all. And even with ALL of my crap loaded I still have 120 MB free. That in itself keeps apps from bugging out.

Anyway, that's my $.02, and as always.........YMMV. :D

I agree 28223 is the rom im gonna stay with. Mix 28223 lioryte base with:

-Thumbcal

-Iphonetoday 1.3

-Opera 10 beta 3 (w/ flash)

-Fingerkeyboard

-Resco Photo Manager

-S2U2

-S2P

-Coreplayer

-Htc's Youtube player

-Igo Amigo

-Galarm

-AIO ComManager by Sector for wifi sharing

and others with some visual hacks thrown in and you have one kickin phone. I havent had to reset phone in two weeks. Not bad for windows mobile (may windows mobile as we know it rest in peace). Ps posted from my wounderful Omnia.

Ok which one do you mean when you say 28223? The 'model T' rom or whatever? That thread seems to have died and perhaps some time before the next version is posted.

I really wish people would post links to things they mention in their posts more often, its confusing trying to track it down, I have to do research just to understand peoples posts..

Check Lioryte's thread. I think his current build is 28230, but the link for 28223 will be there, too.

Ok so this thread? http://www.modaco.com/content/i910-specifi...-16mb-pagepool/

When you scroll down and see the 30ish versions, one is 28223 - thats the one you mean? Sorry to be a noob but what makes the 28223 version better than the others? I guess I don't really get all these version numbers, I'm used to seeing stuff like 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.2.1 for programs.. not sure about what this all means. I'm reading his summary of the differences between builds but I'm still not understanding it.

That's the one. "Better" is strictly a personal preference. Some Builds seem to work better with certain applications, but for the most part they are more or less the same within their individual branch of the WM tree. On that same page Lioryte provides some explanation of the different branches. For instance, although they are more or less alike, the COM branch (235xx) will be slightly different from the WMD branch (28xxx). The latest/newest builds/ROMs are at the top of Lioryte's list with older ones down below. HTH....

That does help, thanks! But I'm still not sure how to choose which one would suit me. Still pretty confused about what COM and WMD means and what the exact differences between them are. :(

Very tempted to do this! :(

Storage space is one of the ditractors. Guess i'm spoiled having 100+ MB in the custom ROM.

I don't think i would do good with withdrawals, i would probably just relaps back into flashacolizm.. :(

Trying most of this stuff.. heres some notes I have:

1.) When increasing the scrollbar size, it causes some screens to re-arrange, such as the System tab in all settings - the icons are now 2 columns instead of 3 (looks worse and makes you scroll more)

2.) The personalizer comes up with a mortscript error on startup every time, not sure what I did wrong.

3.) the default dialer loses the touch response / haptic feedback function

Only thing I might add is a text editor and S2U2. Other than that Im loving the reg hacks / cab installs. Thanks!

I had the same error with Personalizer but only after I ran my Clean Temp program. Even after uninstaliling one or both progams and reinstalling. Somehow I think Clean Temp interfears with it. I've set my scroll bar registry edit to 14. That avoids the realignment of the icons. S2U2 is a great program but since it is readly available I did not include it.

Install Personalizer to Main Memory to avoid Mortscript error.
