acer-liquid-telephone-portable-50x50.jpgbtn_donateCC_LG.gif

Here you can find my custom recovery wich works with both liquid 1.6 and liquid E 2.1 rom.

If you have a Acer Liquid E Ferrari Edition, use the specific recovery

The recovery images will not work on factory AAP, CSL or FET devices untill you do a full flash

An updgrade via acer download tools is needed. You will have to flash to an EMEA rom (thanks to Nova2.1 for his help)

Important notes to rom providers

In order to make your rom compatible with apps2sd, you need to mount the ext sd card partition to /system/sd, otherwise, system won't boot if apps are stored on the sd card ext partition.

Liquid Community rom (LCR) since v1.2.3 is compatible with apps2sd

It is always safer to enable/disable apps2sd via recovery rather than is os mode.

Changelog V0.6.2 :

  • Hardware button enabled to move and run command
  • Applications moved to sdcard using system feature are now backed up/restored

Recovery Utilities

utilities.th.png

Menu item explanation

- Reboot system now -> reboot in phone mode

- Apply sdcard:update.zip -> apply the update.zip file stored at root of the sdcard

- Apply any zip from sd -> apply any zip file (update format) from sd. A menu will le you choose which one

- Nandroid : backup -> perform a backup of all your system and data partition and also ext2 from sd (if exists)

- Nandroid : restore latest backup -> restore the latest made nandroid backup

- UMS on -> enable Usb Mass Storage so you can acces sd card as a usb key on you computer

- UMS off -> disable Usb Mass Storage

- Root current system -> root you system phone

- Remove root in current system -> remove root in you system phone. If an error occurs, choose install root before uninstalling it (Some roms auto root system on each startup so it might not be enough)

- Split sd for apps 2 sd -> create 2 partitions on you sd card : 500Mo ext + free left space fat). All data on sd are lost

- Move apps2sd -> move application from phone to sd card. You need compatible rom for this to work. If system don't boot after, it's not compatbile (see developper note in front of this post for info). To move apps back from sd card to phone, during boot failure, do "adb reboot recovery", then "adb shell" and "utility". Choose "Move sd card apps back to phone". Reboot

- Fix package uid mistmatches -> fixes permissions on Android data directories after upgrade

- Wipe data (factory reset) -> erase all you personnal apps and info. Sometimes needed after a system upgrade. May fix lots of instability problems. First boot takes a long time.

- Wipe dalvik-cache -> erase the dalvik-cache. First boot takes a long time.

- Copy recovery.log to sdcard. -> Copy the recovery log file to the root of your sd card so can see more detailes information.

If any of this comand failed, you can try to launch them via the utility menu. More detailed informations will be displayed.

To enter utility menu : adb shell (enter) utility (enter)

How to install

There is an easy installer available on google code page.

See google code page for updated instructions (in wiki section)

Easy installer : Download installMalezRecovery_x.x.x_FULL.exe, run it. Follow instructions.

Old funky way :

Boot phone in normal mode

copy recovery image to your androidsdk/tools/ folder

then go in cmd (if you are under windows) or terminal (under linux) cd androidsdk/tools/ and run

adb reboot bootloader

fastboot -i 0x0502 flash recovery malezRecovery_0.2.1.img

sending 'recovery' (4876 KB)... OKAY

writing 'recovery'... OKAY

fastboot -i 0x0502 reboot

To enter recovery : adb reboot recovery or button combination

To enter recovery utilities </b>

- Connect usb

- boot in recovery

- from computer adb shell (enter) malez (enter)

If need any help, don't forget to copy recovery log to sd and send it.

I'm not sure but that something I wouldn't try because it's not the same baseband...

mm, i think isn't possible 'cause of the different partitions of eclair.

Do you think i can restore a donut 1.6 backup?

You can use that rom to restore a 1.6 backup but you will try to use an old system with a new baseband. May not work (no network for example).

This rom can only backup an acer Liquid E system with the appropriate baseband and can restore any version.

Before trying to restore to an older system as android 1.6t :

- On sd card, remove the recovery.img from your donut 1.6 backup or you will erase this recovery version with the one backed up and won't be able to backup until reflash this one

- make a nandroid backup of you current running system.

there's one way to restore 1.6, flash with acer 1.6 donut rom, the baseband is restored.

Then fastboot superboot and recovery of 1.6

enter recovery and perform restore

does this do a proper factory wipe ?

I think behnaam mentioned that lickonns doesnt do a proper wipe.

also does it try to flash update.zip like lickonns does if you use hardware button combo to get into recovery?

Otherwise great job mate

Factory wipe works. After wiping, it returns to recovery and you have to tell reboot. Then reenter all you personnal informations.

Update.zip works.II have tested it with launcher2-signed.zip.

Nice work, I have been waiting for this one!

How much have you done from source?

I would like to see some additions to the recovery if it is possible.

1. Choose nandroid backup to restore instead of taking the latest.

2. List and delete backups.

3. In that list view, see how much free space you have left on the card.

As you can see, I have problem with nandroid backups filling up my small card :(.

Yes, i knew that, but i was referring to do a restore without reflashing standard 1.6 rom :(

you can restore back to 1.6 but nothing will work, to change the baseband you need to downgrade the firmware using the acer tool, its not recommended that you backup from 2.1 to 1.6 can cause hardware issues.... but good luck

STICKY PLEASE!!!!
