Hello I am looking to buy an acer liquid e s100 from pixmania as they have them at a good price at the moment. I am a little confused by the list of bins. I see a number of the downloads for 2.2 liquid e listed. But I do not see how you identify which to download for your device? I see some listed with emea in the file name and some without.

Also am I right in thinking that I can only download the liquid e bins? I could not use the liquid metal bin on a non metal liquid?

My device would be a european liquid e.

Thanks,

Michlaustn.

Hey.

You are correct in assuming that Liquid Metal bins cannot be flashed onto Liquid A1/Liquid E.

The way it is organized is that the newer bins are on the bottom. The smartest thing to do is to flash the newest bin you possibly can as they are the least buggy (some of these were leaks released prior to official releases). These bins are flashed by following this guide- http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-acer-liquid-e/ and if anything goes wrong, refer to this thread- http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-please-sticky/

If you are flashing a .bin file, the region does not matter.

AAP=Asia/Asia Pacific. It has English along with 2 types of Chinese (traditional & han)

EMEA=Europe/Middle East/Australia. It has many English along with many European languages.

ROG/FIDO=Rogers or Fido. Canadian carriers. DO NOT FLASH ANY .BIN BY ROGERS OR FIDO OR ELSE IT WILL SIMLOCK YOUR PHONE TO CANADA.

After EMEA or AAP, you will see a 4 character code (ie GEN1/GEN2/CUS1/bla bla bla), this specifies a region within a region. Again when flashing using the Acer Download Tool, the region does not matter.

However, since you are purchasing a Liquid E, you could download the FroYo update directly from the Acer website (no need to flash the bin using the download tool)- http://global-download.acer.com/Step5.aspx...amp;Category=OS (to update to FroYo through Acer's method, region DOES matter. Both EMEA/AAP as well as the 4 character code, I think. This information can be found in Settings-->About Phone-->Build Number. Better way would be to go to the Acer Support website for your country and find it under Downloads).

Thanks for clearing that up. So if were to just flash the bin from the acer site I could later flash one of the bins from this forum over it? Do the bins listed here offer any benifit over downloafing the one from acer site? Besides possibly being newer leaks?

Does the phone have an update notifyer to tell you that a new bin is available? Or must I use this thread to identify newer ones?

Finally you said I can get the version number and region code from the phone settings. With this I can idntify a bin for the same region . There is no problem from going between bins with different region and areas codws?

Thanks,

Michlaustn.

Use the Acer download tool to flash this bin http://hotfile.com/dl/97477679/ffcdc82/Ace...A22F_A.bin.html

and you should get back your stock Ferrari 2.2 EMEA ROM. (thanks kenelm!)

Is it an MD5 Fail? If so, just flash anyway.

Yup.. I "tested" the bin. It's the MD5 fail. Just flash it

~renzs

Ok, but what is MD5 fail and what could be wrong if i flash it and is it safe and later revertable? thnx

and renz as u have have did it so if the english lang is there because i suppose it is for french speaking regions. thnx again.

Hi Kenelm,

Just a suggestion for this great post.

It might be worth adding the link for the Acer D/L tool (versions? ) on the first page, so all the info could be easily found. Plus maybe a disclaimer "burn at your own risk" ...

Anyway just a thought. Good work!
