No wipe is required to use this ROM, however it is recommended to wipe the data/factory & cache partitions to prevent any potential issues if you have been using a different custom ROM previously.

        Reverting to stock

A stock ROM image can be found here this topic.

        Known Issues

[*] ISSUE: Titanium backup warns the device is not rooted.

ANALYSIS: Titanium backup requires ChainsDD's superuser application to be installed, See ISSUE #2

WORKAROUND: Use the "Backup and restore" function in ClockworkMod Recovery main menu.

[*] ISSUE: ChainsDD's Superuser warns the SU binary is out of date and fails to update it.

ANALYSIS: r6 of this rom ROM is shipped with a stock version of SU, the application requires its own version.

WORKAROUND1: remove the su binary /system/xbin and then re-run SuperUser application.

WORKAROUND2: download the su update.zip and apply it using ClockworkMod.

          Future development

          None.

Seb, I understand that there are some (minor?) changes (newer revisions) in the Bouygues' underpinnings, as compared to Orange's r1.

1/ Do you have any sign of any functional changes/improvements?

2/ Where should folk look (or not look) for different behaviour (or things that might have been fixed)? Where should testers' attention be concentrated?

Wifi seems to be fixed (but didn't try so far):

Yes, I was hoping that Seb would group his comments here to the benefit of those with specific problems (like some routers that the standard SF doesn't get on with) and hopefully to prevent some of those who will inevitably claim it has fixed notification leds, etc, which Seb knows it hasn't!

Im always loath to join in the 'it works' debate, since I'm using the thing in a country it was not designed to work in, I have problems with the Market Place based on IP address for instance.

However, I cant say I noticed that much difference, apart from the Wifi (initially) actually working, more progress than I got with the OUK ROM

Wasn't expecting claims of fixes. (You seem way too modest for that!)

More of where people should look for possible changes.

Some wifi software has been revised (compared to the Orange r1), so it would seem good to give folks a 'heads up' and gather specific experience in that area.

Frankly, I don't know where else people should (or should not) be looking.

The Market thing raises another possibility. Is there a potential for problems in the UK if using French, Japanese, or whatever firmware? (I note that users of the prototype Chinese 2.2 OS seem to have ongoing difficulty with Market.) Is this something to be concerned about, or is it purely IP and MAC related?

Added -- Personally, I'm eagerly looking forward to the Fat version!

I just downloaded the lite version of r6 and my anti-virus program (Enterprise version of Kaspersky) has caught a virus.

Don't know if this may be one of those 'false positives' but you may want to check.

The checksum was fine.

Below is Kaspersky output:

^^ This is why I won't go with Seb's ROM. Maybe I was being an idiot when I tried the de-O ROM yesterday, but even installing the Superuser app & binary yielded no effect (same no-go with Titanium Backup), and I couldn't grab Universal Androot from the market. I know Seb's rom suits a different purpose, so no complaints, but if you're after proper root (and not just a soft-root) I would go for the MCR.

Seb-bro, sorry if I'm naive to the subtleties and all, but aren't you interested in distributing a 'proper' rooted ROM (whatever that means  ) ?

Ha, you must be starting on r6 rather than r1 purely to confuse me!

I'm not sure where your getting the idea its not rootable from...

I just re-flashed my device with v6-lite, ran adb shell, and typed 'su'... and hey.. I'm root...

and from the command line

$ adb remount

remount succeeded

no problems there..

No-one has ever really complained about this before... if you can give me more details I'll look into it

Didn't think I was complaining! I didn't explore all of the possibilities I admit, and based much on Titanium Backup not working. Much apologies for any offence caused. I'm sure I'll give it another try sometime soon before eating my words...

$ adb remount

remount failed: Operation not permitted

The de-bouyguesed one from this thread!

Just tried flashing ChainsDD's Superuser 2.3.6.1, just a sec...

--edit

Nope, same thing, though now I have the superuser app.

--edit2

You know, I don't think adb remount etc. have ever worked for me... I remember something about something like a "ro.secure" setting... time for Google.

Oh, it seems the De-Bouyguesed ROM still has ro.secure set... opps... glad it was just a beta

The De-Oranged ROM is set correctly tho...

Installed r6 and it seems that i get more signal bars (actually, 4 out of 4). I guess it is correct, because every other phone shows full bars here.

Rooted with androot and everything works as expected.

So far, so good.
