when updating you will lose apn settings and all data stored on the phones memory. items on the sd card will not be lost.

UPGRADE

1.backup anything on the phone itself

2.download the updater package and extract to your desktop

3.run LG Driver.exe and install

4.on phone go to settings>applications>development and tick usb debugging

5.right click on windows enabler.exe and click run as administrator

5.do the same for KDZ_FW_UPD.exe

6.at the bottom right of your pc screen click on the windows enabler icon so it will say "on"

7.on the KDZ click the dropdown box at the top and it will enable, then click again and select 3GQCT

8.leave the next one. click the browse button to enable then click the folder icon next to it and find your .kdz file

9.plug in your phone but dont mount sd card

10.click the button under browse to start installing.i suggest that you close all other windows except this and stop any antivirus scans that slow your pc down

11.wait until your phone restarts completely and the lock screen comes up, now you can unplug your phone.

im sorry but this bit makes no sense to me what so ever. surely you need to point it in the right direction for it to knw where the the files are?

also if someone knows what partition the quarx rom needs to be flashed to through cmd i would love to know. really annoying me now cus i cant find out what it is.

EDIT: dont worry i found the one and its working a treat now.

i found it hard to do it this way to. its easier to download the android sdk and do and put all the files in their. then use cmd to luanch it from that place. i ran into all sorts of problems doing it this way.

if you have a look through the posts on here or on xda-developers there is a guide on their.

Just figgured it out!! At long last B)

Instead of putting "fastboot.exe flash recovery C:\recovery.img" I wrote this:

Command 1.) cd C:\android-sdk-windows

Command 2.) fastboot.exe flash recovery C:\recovery.img.

Again this is ASSUMING you have installed your android sdk kit directly on the cd drive like: C:\android-sdk-windows. You will have to install the files you are asking fastboot.exe to install within the same directory example: C:\recovery.img or it wont work ( I learnt the hard way 6 hours!! )

Now have a custom rom and recovery + im gonna install the new kernle to enpower me with overclocking / Underclocking possibilities :0)

Op can you add my findings please.

Hi I'm glad you figured it out

I spent 2 days figuring it out from many different places that weren't clear and missed out big chunks

But figured it out in the end

Tell others about this topic as it is the first clear tutorial

I get to the stage where you flash the recovery.img file but the device isn't loading the drivers properly while in clockwork recovery mode.

When I check the 'Device Manager' it's only showing up as 'android' under 'Other Devices' and says that no driver is loaded.

I've tried using both the LG USB Modem driver and the Android SDK driver and none of them seem to work.

I'm running Windows 7

Any ideas?
