HTC vs LG

5 posts in this topic

Hey there,

I got the HD7 as soon as it was released as I was under the impression that HTC were still the main manufacturer of Microsoft smartphones but I'm guessing this is no longer the case.

The LG Optimus 7 is clearly a much better spec handset, apparently containing a Tegra 2 chip, although I seem to find conflicting information on that one, but it has augmented reality functionality and DNLA support. How on earth did LG manage to get a device out with more advanced functionality than HTC? This confuses me and just suggests that Microsoft are working closer with LG now.

I'm actually considering selling my HD7 and getting an unlocked LG Optimus 7 now, various reasons besides the couple mentioned above, I also regularly get weird graphical glitches and have to restart the device, seemingly after listening to music.

Anyone else feel the HD7 has been a let down?

The LG is not a better device, the only thing really different is the LG does not use a microSD, the LG also has less RAM.

Just because it has a slightly newer processor does not make it a better device the change in CPU means that it is easier to produce a CDMA device as the HD7 chipset does will not support CDMA.

I've never had a graphical glitches on my HD7?

Also as far as I am aware no WP7 device has DNLA support at the moment.

I'm not saying the LG is not any good I just don't think that you will notice any difference apart from a smaller screen and a heavier device.

This is a good read

I have ditched my HTC HD7 for the optimus 7, the reasons, the build quality on the lg seems less flimsy and plasticy, the lg does indeed support DNLA streaming, but i have had both the glitches on both the phones, but rare occasion so shrug it off.

I believe it also has GorillaGlass on the screen which is a bonus for LG.
