FlashLitePlugin + libflashliteXXX.so can it be incorporated into 2.2 rom by our great Devs?

As posted here many times, FlashLitePlugin + 3x libflashliteXXX.so's can be installed in Sf 2.1 eclair to play 99% of all flash in android browsers...

Can any of our great Devs find a way to incorporate these into our new 2.2 roms here in the forum?

Maybe some great Dev can take the FlashLitePlugin + 3x libflashliteXXX.so data apart to see if there is any way of making it work in 2.2..... Pleeeasse :D

Title is pretty misleading, might be an idea to change it.

Taking apart a lib is no easy thing to do and I don't think that's the half of what needs to be done. Bluntly, I don't think anyone is going to try based on you asking for it.

As for me asking for it, this is a big issue and I'm sure that each and every SanFrancisco aka Blade user wants it..

....that's a hundred thousand needy persons who you can bring tears to the eyes of....

I have my blade for almost 3 months now and needed flash exactly once...

If there is a video in a flash player that i want/HAVE to watch, i use skyfire. If there is a website that is made entirely with flash - then it's probably not worth visiting anyways :D

so, calling it a "big issue" sounds a bit like hyperbole to me.

Indeed, I can't imagine how slow the web experience on the blade would be with Flash enabled, plus you get a whole host of Adobe funded vulnerabilities.

I don't know anything about security holes, performances and such, but from an end user POV there have been many times I've missed flash comparing to surfing on a regular computer. Sure, it's an unfair comparison, but I'm just comparing the experience now. I(and I guess many others) wouldn't mind if flashed worked flawlessly(no hits on other surfing performance etc) on our devices.

On the other hand, it might be a little too much to ask from a device that costs 100euro. I mean, it's not like the Iphone 4 handles flash any better. =)

If you really need browsing with flash support, try Skyfire web browser. I am using it since released for Symbian and than for Android and it opens 99% of pages with flash content. You can watch flash videos in full screen and it is fast as stock android browser.

And it is FREE!

Look at their site, there is a video where you can see how it works :D

Lol so your plan is to trick a 'dev' into your thread and hope they decide to do what you ask?

Wrt demand, echoing what others have said, I'm not fussed about flash. It would be nice, but I'm fine with the fact that we likely won't get it.

sorry I've had skyfire and I wouldn't say it opens 99%, more like 9,99%...for instance it can't open youtube directly " sorry can't play this video"....and countless more examples...

...it can only maybe open flash through pressing more buttons and lotsss and lotssss of waiting....I've never seen it play flash...

I wish people would stop advertising skyfire....

Skyfire is OK for some websites, but doesn't work with most of the ones I would like to try out... I.e. no megavideo (at least when embedded on webistes) etc. ; and no gaming either... it's more like it can play 0,99 % of flash out there really ... just some basic stuff with simple video controls etc., nothing too complicated or with too many controls ...

It can play flash adverts easily though, so if you want a browser for that - skyfire is a great choice ;D

If youtube is your main concern:

Wait some days for an even more stable version of cyanogenMod 7. This is based on Android 2.3. And one of its most advertised features is its ability to play WebM (VP8). Most if not all of youtube's content will be converted to WebM (or is already, who knows).

Well, there is the Youtube app, what is way superior than the crappy Flash (or HTML5) UI of Youtube.

Yeah, for youtube, the youtube app is much better than anything else I've tried.

About Skyfire, tried it, but I don't like the browser(too much bloat and intergration with social network) and it fails more than not for me when it comes to playing flash.

As been stated before in this thread, flash or not isnt a dealbreaker for me in this phone considering the price. But I wouldn't mind having it either.

Technically you are right. But I don't know if all youtube videos are offered to be used with this app. Maybe those are just some videos offered explicitely for mobile usage. Maybe the youtube app even uses WebM itself? Who knows? :D

The mobile app simply uses streamed MP4 videos, grabbed from youtube's converter (all online "converter" uses Youtube's built-in formatter, what grabs the source video, takes the input and formats the video as the target like HQ, FullHD, etc). No WebM or anything like that included as far as I know.

It certainly would be nice if we could get flashlite included in one of the roms or made as a flashable add on, so that it gives people options to install or not. Occasionally I have visited the odd website using skyfir and the flash content still does not render, which can become frustrating at times.

Skyfire uses their own server in the US to process and send flash videos.

http://areena.yle.fi/

Few videos in Finnish (excellent) Yle Areena video service are not available to outside of Finland (for copyright reasons), so they don't work with Skyfire. A direct connection to their server would be much appreciated.

Symbian^3 and iPhone have Yle Areena applications, but Android doesn't.

http://www.tietokone.fi/uutiset/nokia_n8_j...ena_sovelluksen

I don't need Flash for anything else but Areena videos. If we could get a video player based on RTMPDump-YLE

http://users.tkk.fi/~aajanki/rtmpdump-yle/index.html

I would be 100% satisfied.

A Android version of open source plain RTMPDump-YLE would be a start, though you have to download the whole video file before watching.
