Hi guys,

this is a custom rom based on acer's 4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT release. It's an android 2.2.2 system. I've added some tweaks, some apps,

and the gnufabio's chocolate custom kernel (based on thepasto sources)

If you want to send money, send it to our devs, gnufabio, roggin, koud, malez, thepasto, suxsem, lensflare etc etc...

Description:

based on acer bin 4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT

update.zip script's based on lcr-f 2.0 and t&l zip, thanks malez, vache, lgcmn and all the people who made that great roms.

Flash without signature from malez recovery on top of 4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT acer bin as usual.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2012-03-27 - new mirrors up!

v1.1 (30 sep 2011): ATTENTION THIS IS NOT AN INCREMENTAL UPDATE, YOU NEED TO WIPE ALL, USE TITANIUM BACKUP AND BACKUP YOUR SMS!

- gnufabio's custom kernel by default version choco-acer-kernel-110527-1501

- Moved many apps from /system/app to /data/app, as they cannot be updated easily on market (they are not listed as "My Downloads").

They can be also uninstalled when you want in this way. They are updated to 29/09/2011 releases.

- Removed Adobe Flash, Titanium Backup, A2SDGUI (install from market if you want), htc_ime (was old and bugged)

- tweaked gps.conf (agps enabled)

- dalvik heap set to 32mb

fear_4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT_v1.1.zip (93.65 MB) http://uploadmirrors.com/download/1BKJZTCJ/fear_4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT_v1.1.zip

TODO:

- change default browser bookmarks

- repack ritchen's choco kernel for v1.0

INSTRUCTIONS FOR darktremor a2sd usage:

DT App2sd is disabled by default. You can use a2sdGUI to enable it or on adb shell you can type 'a2sd reinstall'. The phone will reboots.

Do an 'a2sd check' to see that all is ok after reboot.

Addons (v0.X and v1.0, v1.1):

- gingerbread theme with battery percentage (taken from t&l, all credits to lgcmn and it's authors)

fear_4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT_gingerbread_theme.zip (5.11 MB) http://uploadmirrors.com/download/SPU2JHXH/fear_4.008.08.EMEA.VFIT_gingerbread_theme.zip

- stock acer white theme (to revert gingerbread theme)

- Metal camera (mostly untested) http://uploadmirrors.com/download/QAXTLF3L/Metal_Camera.zip

STOCK KERNEL: (still valid also on v1.1):

To revert this kernel and get back stock kernel

For developers here are the sources used (based on other community devs sources).

We like to share everything to improve our overall experience:

choco kernel source tree: https://github.com/gnufabio/acer-liquid-chocolate

ramdisk source tree: https://github.com/gnufabio/acer_liquid_ramdisk

Old things:

v0.1:

- boot.img rooted and malez's app2sd enabled (tnx to thepasto, malez, t&l devs)

- updated Market to 2.3.3 (Vending.apk)

- removed acer's and vodafone's crapware (zip attached with removed apks)

- added gingerbread keyboard (in addition to froyo's one) (tnx to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875202)

- added Launcher Pro (on /data/app to easy upgrade it)

v0.2:

- fixed app2sd

v0.3:

- fixed preinstalled Adobe Flash 10.1, reduced size of /system by 7mb

- enabled init.d scripts with run-parts on boot. Now liquid settings works on boot

- integrated Metal Camera instead of stock one

v1.0-beta1: ATTENTION THIS IS NOT AN INCREMENTAL UPDATE, YOU NEED TO WIPE ALL, USE TITANIUM BACKUP AND BACKUP YOUR SMS!

INTEGRATED DARK TREMOR'S SCRIPTS, DON'T USE MALEZ APP2SD FROM RECOVERY

- integrated darktremor app2sd 2.7.5.3 Beta 04

- run at boot /system/etc/init.d scripts for real

- gingerbread theme with battery percentage by default

- acer's eclair libsensor, fixes proximity sensor

- updated system apps (Maps, Flash, Docs to Go, Titanium, etc)

- added latest Liquid Settings and A2sdGUI

- added htc ime from lcr-f 2.0

- removed gingerbread keyboard as it's not updated and bugged. Install from market: "Keyboard from Android 2.3" by Steven Linn and language pack according to your language

Sweet. Will flash tonight. Overclock kernel working?

The one for t&l I repacked tuesday should work I haven't tested it, as I want to know what changes in the kernel in new acer bin.

http://android.modaco.com/content-page/328...-t-l/page/320/#

I was doing the same, but you won

Listen , is this for 256MB or both?

I have A1, 256mb, it should work also on E, anyone with it could tell me if it works..

Hey Fear,

Thanks for all your hard work. Just flashed it, looks good.

I can confirm that the OC kernel does not work (I tried the one with the MT Fix).

Camera wasn't very good but luckily flashing Metal camera by Vache works (after rebooting the first boot after flashing)- http://shoobee.eu/upp/download.php?file=585Metal_Camera.zip

This ROM is perfect for me. Now all I need to find is a theme w/ battery percentage in status bar (perhaps a Gingerbread theme) and working overclock.

Is there any chance to modify touch sensibility? Is Liquid Settings working with this rom?

They said me that settings on boot won't work because on acer roms we don't have /etc/init.d scripts. We have to enable them or liquid settings should use the acer way to run startup scripts..

What is different in 4.008.08 as opposed to 4.002.14EMEA GEN1 ?

Any improvements?

It seems more quick compared to stock 4.002.14. Compared to t&l with oc kernel you will have similar result minus fixes brought by android 2.2.2 release.

Anyone has an advice to change default browser start page and default bookmarks?

Anyone compared kernel to previous one?

I'll try the patched framework-res.apk and I'll update first post with links. metal camera should work flawlessy since nothing has changed..

What ramdisk have you used for your modified boot.img?

OK, installed Gingerbread Launcher (free from Market) and Gingerbread Keyboard, both of them are perfectly working. I am very happy with this rom!

I can't tell how battery life is on this ROM.

Some days it is very very good, some days it is the opposite.

How has it been for other users?
