Hi guys, just purchased an unlocked U8800. I am having problems with random re-boots from sleep, or if left overnight on charge. I have seen on one thread about changing settings in info menu which I have done but it still does it. So far, phone is stock with the B136 Huawei firmware update.

Hello and welcome !

Well I have not had any issue with random re-boots from sleep with custom B160 from xda. Can link you up and let you have a try with it !

If you have lots of questions and maybe someone doesn't respond too fast I recommend you view That-Guy's U8800 guide. Should come in handy. Hopefully it will be a much bigger guide with rich content and well instructed information !

Cheers !

Sounds stupid but may be worth just doing a factory reset, don't install any apps and see if it is still happening.

If not there is an app causing a problem :)

I have a similar problem with my x5. Even just going through the menus can cause it to reboot. This has happened with fresh installs of stock AUS 135 and 136 roms with no extra apps installed.

To make things worse, it also reboots everytime I try to set "WCDMA Preferred" mode. After the restart, it changes back to "GSM/CDMA AUTO".

Perhaps there's a 2g to 3g signal problem in some phones? (Seems to not matter whether Phone Data or WiFi are turned on or off)

Have noticed the same with the change from "WCDMA Preferred" back to "GSM/CDMA AUTO".

Actually have found that it will re-occur in the same physical location (have been able to reproduce) - implying to me that it is a combination of some buggy code that is invoked when signal strength conditions of 2g/3g mean constant changing.

Yesterday at work I had no problems with the phone. But woke up this morning and it had re-booted. It does seem to happen at home overnight. On another forum somebody suggested it was when the phone is switching between 2g and 3g signals.

I have done a factory reset but its still happening. Handtec want me to send the phone back for a replacement which I might do, although it does appear to be a software problem, or is it that some phones have a dodgy aerial or something. I'm glad in one way that its not just me as it proves there is something wrong somewhere.

I would get it replaced personally. On the Blade forum some people had this sort of issue which turned out to be hardware issues. The U8800 I have has never randomly rebooted and I live in a bad signal area.

Will be going back tommorow, so will just have to wait for a replacement now, hopefully that one will be ok. I love the phone and for the price there is nothing really to compare sim free. I will just have to go back to my pulse in the meantime.

Update: Had 2 reboots today while using 3g data in town. First one was during a web session, and the second time happened while the phone was idle in my pocket. Felt it vibrate and thought I had gotten an SMS, but it just rebooted for no reason.

I'm 100% sure now that it is a problem with 3g, as my brother had his x5 reboot today while using facebook via Optus' 3g network. His phone is stock B136 Aus Roadhound, mine is running FLB Custom Rom.

Both phones were purchased from the same Dick Smith store about 2 months apart. Is it possible for there to be a bad batch of phones? So annoying since the rest of the phone is so awesome :)

No harm in getting it exchanged for a new one if they will let you and they have stock

I'm having some reboot issues too. I've come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the data traffic. When I'm on WLAN it never reboots. Though when I'm at work on normal data traffic it reboots occasionally. Just flashed in Miui 1.7.8 yesterday and it seems way more stable. Haven't tested for too long yet so can't say for sure.

Lets hope they finish CM7 soon :)

Edit: Had a huuuge amount of reboots yesterday so this is still kinda confusing. Only on data traffic still
