As in, how soon will the SD Card crash due to increased wear? From what I read it's unlikely to occur and if it does it takes a long time i.e. years.

If anyone's curious into how this works and it's benefits here's an excellent post: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1310309

This looks very interesting!

I will have to try this.

@Smelious, what SD card do you have? Mine is Class 10 so hopefully OK. But if you are already using link2sd - this shouldn't be any slower should it?

Actually, since I have started using link2sd I found some things slow at first but then they got back to normal.

Nice work Techno. :)

edit

Does it have the Titanium Backup bug of the original?

it can be slower than link2sd because data is also written on sdcard, so you should have a sdcard which has a high random write and read speed ;)

You can say that your sdcard is now your internal space ;)

which titanium backup bug?

Mine is also class 10. I'm going to give it a full days workout today, see how it goes.

@ chemicalbuz

you can try, but I don't know, if it supports init.d...

a class 2 can be faster than a class 10 in random read / write, so that doesn't matter...

Yea, I have just been reading a bit about it.

It seems this http://crystalmark.i...rk/index-e.html is the best test for random read/writes.

My class 10 will probably be bad cos it seems the manufacturers sacrifice random read/write for maximum sequential speeds, doh! dry.gif

And this http://forums.whirlp...s.cfm?t=1582172 shows the fastest random 4k R/W are class 2 and class 4 cards.

I have just tested the sandisk class 4 that the phone came with and my Play class 10, I tested 4k random r/w

Sandisk class 4 = 1.985/0.015

Play class 10 = 2.807/0.016

So both are pretty awful when it comes to random 4k write - "apparently the 4k write speed is most important". sad.gif

http://www.tomshardw...ce,3011-12.html

The best 4k random write was a Sandisk class 4 8GB.

I am gonna get one to try.

I also have a Sandisk Mobile Ultra on the way, lol.

yep, mine is class 6 and metal became a lot slower..

as for Titanium, it became slow as dial-up connection))

p.s. returned to link2sd, cause it completely solves my lack for space ;)
