Hello all ! im back to android world !

since my HTC Hero , i got bold9700 then bold 9900, now sweet galaxy nexus gsm .

Now there are few general questions i would like to ask since im really outdated here :D so let me go straight to the point

#1 Does rooting block your access to market, like it did back with HTC hero ?

#2 which recovery boot should i use ? last time i remember there was this RA something :P do i still need to have signed roms ?

#3 since we dnt have SD card, will all my pictures etc be gone ? so would it mean i got to back up everything then transfer it back?

#4 there are soo many roms out there for samsung nexus, i always had trust in modcao's roms and that what i will try out first. but maybe someone could give me a very brief description of top lets say top 5 roms in your belief ? and

#4 plz remind me what are these i9250XWKK8 firmwares :S difference?

#5 now concerning the app space, do the get saved on some other internal memory other than the big one ?

i think that would be all, if you think i could miss out on some basics i would be soo thankful to enlighten me

I really appreciate your reply and thanks in advance :)

No it doesn't block your access to market

#2 which recovery boot should i use ? last time i remember there was this RA something :P do i still need to have signed roms ?

Clockwork, and some still sign their ROMs but not all as Clockwork doesn't require it. plus Clockwork is in constant development, don't get me wrong! its stable as ever but new things are added, for example I'm using the Touch-Clockwork recovery image, all touch no buttons needed "root then get rom manager from market will make it all easier"

#3 since we dnt have SD card, will all my pictures etc be gone ? so would it mean i got to back up everything then transfer it back?

Not necessarily, nothing is lost as everything is on a different partition, but when you will do the "unlock" process, yes as it will wipe the whole device. but after that no need to worry, as all other wipes won't get to the "SD" space allocated to your personal files

#4 there are soo many roms out there for samsung nexus, i always had trust in modcao's roms and that what i will try out first. but maybe someone could give me a very brief description of top lets say top 5 roms in your belief ?

I personally came from a 3 years Cyanogen environment, and with the GN I'm stuck with Modaco's as its the most original in my opinion. tried the CM kangs but they still need some work.

#4 plz remind me what are these i9250XWKK8 firmwares :S difference?

that's the boot-loader firmware if not mistaken, and there is also the base-band which looks the same :P

#5 now concerning the app space, do the get saved on some other internal memory other than the big one ?

Apps are installed on the 13GB internal storage, so you got all the space you need

hope this helps :)

Welcome back dude... Had a Hero, then the Desire before being lumbered with a Bold 9900... So glad to be back to Android too!

ROM wise, if its stock you're after then MCR is a no brainer, if you want a bit more on the customization and extras side of things then I would recommend AOKP... Running it myself...

Generally its a lot easier to work with Samsungs than HTCs as they dont lock the bootloader....
