Confused by all the ROMs

5 posts in this topic

The G300 is my first Android device so I'm new to the scene. I'm already getting confused by all the different ROMs that there are! Is there any kind of summary, maybe on a wiki so that it could be kept updated?

I understand It can be confusing. Especially with all the official and unofficial releases coming out.

If you're into custom roms, then try atomicmod or gr1. As this device gets a little bit older more and more roms will be released. Plus when ics comes out the whole game will change!

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong. Info can be added for what i've missed.

B882 - first Vodafone G300's had this but it had the low volume problem.

B885 - low volume fixed

B888 - repartitions your phone, but not sure if this is an official release

ICS stands for Ice Cream Sandwich, the rom everyone on here seems to be waiting for.

B882 and B885 are official. I wouldn't flash the B888 as that was a leak and repartitions the phone or changes something that stops us flashing an older rom so stick with either of the 2 custom roms above or Paul's modaco rom.

If you are confused by a particular ROM then reply to the ROM thread and ask questions, or read through the thread. It is very likely that any questions you may have will have already been answered.

Do some research, read things and experiment. The best way to find out why ROM A is different from ROM B is to try them out. You won't break anything if you are careful.

Oh and if you haven't seen it yet, have a read of this http://www.modaco.com/topic/353860-help-im-new-and-i-cant-do/
