Another great option I discovered recently :

Zopo Zp300 : 1gb of RAM ! LG IPS HD screen (1280 x 720), ICS... for 163 pounds (255 dollar)

or even better :

keep in mind this model:

TCL-S900

http://www.yoybuy.co...ow/15039558469/

204 pounds (319 $) !!! Same specs as P1, freakin' dual core !! even better screen resolution (1280 x 720) than P1

i like the look of the oppo finder, 6.5mm thin

specs http://thegadgetsgee...hone-at-6-65mm/

£250 http://activity.oppo...ale/orderlt.htm

The maxx is around £200 more than the standard raze, so no go there.

Not sure how comfortable I'd be buying a "no name" Chinese handset...

i mean my lg optimus 2x scores higher benchmarks than all three of those phones in that video

clocked @ 1.2ghz and it only has 512mb RAM lol

I agree with you Tillaz if you plan to play games but if not I think TCL S900 is a deal extreme in every sense. The specs are simply absurd for the price. Have the same performance of the P1, even with better screen resolution. Is not as thick as the P1 but if you don't mind about that is a serious deal extreme. The only issue as you say is too much hassle if comes faulty...but hey life is risk ;-)

ZTE era is showing up at £279 with shipping if you google it.

The era is "interesting" in both senses of the word. I would wait for some real world experience before spending big bucks on it.

The one phone that is a lot better than the G300 the Galaxy Nexus (and maybe the Note). The screen is just gorgeous, and being from Google it will (presumably) get access to the latest software.

Also, Google will shortly release a tablet at I/O for £149, so the phone suddenly needs to do much less than before - ie web surfing and you suddenly need 149 quid in your pocket

149? I am expecting it to cost more like 179 or 199 - still a bargain compared to the competition, especially it is actually well done.

aah yes, forgot about VAT. You could be closer although who knows...? Don't have to make a profit to make cash, look at top social media websites :)

Some nice phones out in the next month though.

wow.. nokia 808 pureview has a 41 MP camera

http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_808_pureview-4577.php

Lol 41 megapixel is just silly! Don't need it that big. Lens will be rubbish anyway!

All these phones coming out with massive resolution cameras to try impress people, but if the lens doesn't focus well enough its pointless. More mp doesn't at all mean better photos haha

yeah, that's usually the case. (or at least it was, with cameras a few years ago) But, I think there's more to the big mp count on this Nokia. I think one use for the extra mp's is to create a better res digital zoom. So basically, a cropped image that can be enlarged with detail cause of all the mega pixels used in the image. Check it out, in some of the news releases about the Pureview. I think I'm right, anyway, if it does indeed works that way, it makes sense for a phone cause you would never be able to fit a decent mechanical zoom in to one (especially with the industry trying to make them thin as possible)

Also, usually Nokia uses a Carl Zeiss lens, they are some of the best quality around for phones, anyway.

Way off topic, but.

Nokia sensor is pretty clever, shame it's in a Nokia phone though.

Sony looks good otherwise - http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/01/23/sony-announces-new-8mp-and-13mp-image-sensors-for-smartphones/

Seems loads of people are ordering them cause they just invested a lot in a new production plant - http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/06/23/sony-to-increase-production-of-stacked-cmos-camera-sensors/

You only get 5MP pics from it, just allows digital zooming with no loss of detail.

Back on topic I'm picking up a GNex today which will play nicely with my pre-ordered Nexus 7 too :-)

I, too, am looking for a "upgrade" for my phone. Not from a G300, but from a ZTE Blade. I'm waiting to see how some of the new dual and quad core devices from more "budget" manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei will fare once released (seems to be taking forever, though!)

I was following the Huawei Ascend P1 for quite some time since it was first announced back in Feb this year. It seemed to be a Samsung Galaxy S2-specced phone and was hoping it would be a lot cheaper than a Samsung - being manufactured by lesser-known Huawei. Well, they've just released European/UK prices for the Ascend P1 and it's more expensive than a Galaxy S2!

I've written a post about this in the Ascend P1 forum, so please head there to read it: http://www.modaco.co...-too-expensive/
