Any idea how to install new DISPLAY (not outer screen) of Blade?

Hello,

I finally didn't avoid dropping the Blade, although it is in a silicon case wearing outer protector sticker too. It fell face down i think on another item (they were in a fanny pack). Unfortunately, there was a crack all across the display when i checked it out. So i took the phone apart, found the display part that i need in ebay. The thing is every part either clips or zifs, except for the display itself and the volume button. The display was glued on the frame with some kind of stickers, i wonder how i should go about and install the new display, because it appears the two stickers are on the frame and not on the display so i guess there will be no stickers on the new part and the sellers specifically state "instructions not included, make sure you know what to do yourself". I have found instructions on outer screen change, but not for display change. The same applies for the volume button which was glued on the frame. Should i use some kind of glue for the display? And if yes, what kind of glue? Or should i search for these special stickers? And where would i find these, if they re not even mentioned anywhere i looked at? Thanks for any info guys..

Hi,

It seems I have the same problem like you. I dropped my ZTE Blade, it was in the leather case, but I cannot get it starting. I tried TPT restore, because I installed CyanogenMod 7.2 before some months. I tried to restore the original ROM, but there is still nothing displayed. The phone buzzez when I click on any of the buttons and they are flashing. There is no visible problem on the screen - no cracks, no scratches. But I think the display is broken. Did you manage to change your display? Can you send me a link where you found on ebay display for your ZTE Blade? Here is a link from YouTube for ZTE Blade teardown:

Maybe this will help you!

Yes man, i am aware of that video, obviously the first thing i searched for was a video on how to dissasemble the blade. My blade was in a silicon case and had a screen protector too. The idiot i am, i dropped my fanny pack from no more than one meter, inside was the blade, a watch as well as other stuff. The watch screen was broken right in the middle (cheap watch) and the blade screen was not damaged at all, there just was a line across the display about in the middle of the screen! The phone was working perfectly. But the display had this like broken all across it.

I found that video (which does not go as far as removing the display, i had to figure that part by myself). I took it completely apart and checked the back of the display, there is one of the three codes that are covered by the displays sold in ebay for Blade. Just enter "lcd display zte blade" in ebay, My frustration came from the fact that i ordered from some honk cong seller. Today it is about 40 days in waiting and nothing has arrived and the tracking number is completely messed up, i am now awaiting for a refund from this person. As i was losing my time waiting, i thought to myself, i ll put the blade back together, to use it with the crack, untill the new display arrives. I very carefully assembled the phone again. But when i pressed the button for it to boot, nothing appeared on the screen, pitch black. However, i DID hear the sound that Android makes when it boots up! So my guess is that when i took the display apart from the frame, there was some stick tape that connected these two. I used a bit of force because as i said i didn't know what i was doing. The display must have gone completely dead because of that bending. Either that, or i somehow destroyed the cable of the frame, that connects the display to the system. I hope it is not the second case, because i ll have to get a new phone. I took everything apart again, and am trying to find a European seller for a new display because i don't know what is going on with these China and Honk Kong sellers, the posting time used to be about 15 days at the most, now it is between 15-50 days or they get lost in the way somehow!

Even if i fix it correctly, i think of getting a new phone, maybe an Alcatel 995, seems cheap enough. I just dont get how the display cracked and the outer screen remained INTACT, pretty strange isn't it?
