Does G300 support GLONASS?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, first post. The topic says it all really; I'm thinking of getting a G300 and will be using it in the UK for navigation. Could you tell me if it supports GLONASS, or just GPS/A-GPS? Thank you.

[i did do a forum search, but came up blank on 'GLONASS' as a search term]

No. GLONASS is only usually on devices that make their way into Russia (after all GLONASS is the Russian equivalent to GPS).

Search wiki, IMHO GLONASS is not fully operable (less then 24 satelites online) and is not primary for personal use, it means not supported by phone manufacturers.

A lot of phones do have GLONASS because Broadcom's (and other manufacturers) GPS chips have support for it (any devices sold in Russia that support navigation must have it)

Nexus 4 has Glonass

As does the Motorola RAZR and the Galaxy S3.

Search wiki, IMHO GLONASS is not fully operable (less then 24 satelites online) and is not primary for personal use, it means not supported by phone manufacturers.

It is fully operational in Russia (hence why the Russian government are pushing for it to be supported) however worldwide coverage is patchy.

Thanks for the responses guys - I guess the consensus of opinion is 'no' :-(

I thought it worth asking as a lot of phones now do have such support (or at least be hardware capable), but I was unsure how accurate the list on Wikipedia is.
