So I searched for parts & found what I needed here: www.mirrorstar.com 18188001011 Digitizer Touch Screen replacement For Huawei Ascend G300 / U8188 /U8815 £ 16.33 1881546513 Original front Cover for HUAWEI Ascend G300 U8810 U8815 £ 7.54 (this was not included in the above quotes) SHIPPING Shipping Method: Register air mail £ 1.26 Ordered 11/11 - rec'd 29/11 (apparently usually quicker but high Xmas volumes through post office created abnormal delay). The items were very well packed in a rigid case/bubble wrap/Jiffy envelope. A local phone repair shop (www.fonexchange.com) agreed to fit the parts for me for £12 & I now have my phone back looking & working as good as new. This saved me £32.41 - so I could easily afford to replace the (also damaged) front cover as well! I hope this helps anyone who needs to repair their phone.
