Hi there padfone fans !

First time post so bare with me, I really need you !

Ok, heres the deal... A friend of mine bought a padfone 2. He was into developing but not really into studying the matter. He wanted to try before reading so u can imagine what this does to a beautiful phone as padfone. I have always been into android but never had the opportunity to really own one. Expect this one day my friend called me and told me he had "bricked" hes phone.

He had rooted it with Paul's awesome one-click root method. Everything worked fine.

Then he started to delete some programs out of the phone. Everything worked fine.

He installed TWRP 2.4.3. Everything worked fine.

Then he said he was trying to install the new Pre-MCR onto the phone. That's when everything went wrong. I don't think he wants to tell me the whole truth but somehow he managed to delete the whole OS from the phone.

So that's where I come in. He got frustrated with it and he had already lost hes warranty on the phone. So I suggested that I buy it off from him. He did take my offer and now I'm an owner of a "bricked" padfone 2

So after a few days of frustration and turning my skills into action hasn't brought me any closer to victory. I bought the xda developer book to increase my skills. Still no success

I tried to connect the phone on my computer but adb devices didn't recognize the phone. Installed Pdanet. Working. Finding my phone both at fastboot & adb.

So after installing ADB SDK Pdanet and some other binaries (listed below)

I've started scouting around TWRP. Notice few things.

1. If I try to backup the system theres no data to be backed up.(recovery, system, cache etc.)

2. TWRP File Manager shows all the folders in the phone even when I adb push them.

Tryed to flash stock rom it always says:

archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'

archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'

error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt

So search continues... Found a solution saying try adb sideload(http://forum.xda-dev....php?p=35320569).

Getting

Installing /data/media/sideload.zip

Checking for MD5 file...

Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.

and FAILED.

So the question is. Is there anyway to save my new phone ?

Really appreciate all the answers !

AND REALLY SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH ! ^^

EDIT:

So I got it working again ! Seems like I got a new phone for only a few beers !

tryed to flash Pre-MCR again. Worked like magic, everything smooth ! So thank you Paul !

1. in TWRP adb push the Pre-Mcr WWE rom to sdcard

2. boot into fastboot and flash paul's custom recovery

3. reboot into custom recovery and flash rom

4. depending on what SKU you are the first flashing could fail just try it again. Remember the first boot could take a while.

5. if it boots fine flash TWRP and make a backup.

i think this should work.

In my case TWRP didn't work beacuse adb doesn't recognize my padfone2.

I used the modaco recovery.

What you need:

recovery: http://www.modaco.co...asus-padfone-2/

rom: http://www.modaco.co...-the-padfone-2/

adb push WWE_A68-10.4.11.13-0-ota-user-deodex.zip /data/media/

(wait a while)

From the recovery: apply update from external storage

In my case this was the only solution that worked because TWRP doesn't work and /sdcard/ didn't exist.

Type adb devices; is the device present?

If you are on linux type lsusb when the devices is plugged in and write here the result

Guys,

I have done the following and have bricked my phone :

1.) Installed TWRP 2.5

2.) Flashed Lindbergs deoxded rom

3.) After a period it came back but the rom was messed up

4.) put wwe stock on the root and it ran again.

5.)After about 30 mins the phone booted up but I applied the bootloader apk

6.) It is now 30 mins and the phone is at the Asus logo

Question is I can access fastboot and the machine detects this, what exactly do I need to do, to get it working again.

I am not familiar with the Adb process but if someone could explain I will give it a try.

Hi guys.

I have a problem.

This is copy of my cmd console:

C:\Users\Rafał\Desktop\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20130219\sdk\platform-tools>adb push pad2.zip /data/media/

failed to copy 'pad2.zip' to '/data/media/': Read-only file system

Can someone help me with that?

Sorry for my bad english.

Hi guys, I'm new here and you guessed right - My padfone 2 got bricked, this afternoon. The device wasnt rooted or anything. I noticed it was after I installed this app from the playstore(e-toro). Thats just an observation anyway. I tried holding the volume down and power then resetting factory defaults, that worked at first.

After restoring all my apps from the default google back-up, it bricked again. And this time the volume-down + power button routine doesnt work. I'm frustrated and dont know what to do. I've read most of the posts here and you guys seem really smart when it comes to these things. I've decided I'd call the ASUS Centre tomorrow but I cant say for sure what they'd do. Besides, I'd like to learn a few things.

Is there hope for my padfone 2.

once your phone is Bricked, due to Rooting the device, you will forfeit your warranty.

asus will ignore your call or service for support, unless you are willing to PAY for Motherboard replacement as your own cost + round trip shipping.

even if you did replace MOBO, the warranty are still null, they will only replace a MOBO with unlocked bootloader since 2012 December.

Once you unlock, your device is FULLY non-warrant any longer. MOBO cost around 75% of original purchase of the phone.

Hi all,

I also have my new Padfone 2 bricke and wanting to install a mod for battery.

Reboot it is stuck on Asus silver with the wheel which rotates below.

I have therefore reinstalled my nandroid backup, but the result was the same.

Since then he remains stuck on white Asus and want more started or shut down.

I can enter the recovery and replace it with Fastboot and access with adb is ok.

In my case TWRP didn't work beacuse adb doesn't recognize my padfone2.

I used the modaco recovery.

What you need:

recovery: http://www.modaco.co...asus-padfone-2/

rom: http://www.modaco.co...-the-padfone-2/

adb push WWE_A68-10.4.11.13-0-ota-user-deodex.zip /data/media/

(wait a while)

From the recovery: apply update from external storage

In my case this was the only solution that worked because TWRP doesn't work and /sdcard/ didn't exist.

Thank you for the procedure, but I can't copy the rom in the internal memory.

I always like response "protocol failure".

Have you already circumvented this problem?

Thanks to all...

well, I don't expect a living soul around here but I'll give it a try anyway.

yes, I bricked my phone while trying a factory reset. it Got stuck on the ASUS logo on boot.

I tried several methods, I can flash any recovery, I can push a ROM, it even installs but the result is always the same..... boot loop.

Is this a waste of time and should I give up or are there other things I might try?

BTW, I am still very much new with fastboot and adb.
