Just a reminder - latest v5 release 3.4.2 from Hay:

was not so bad as previous v4 releases.

Hope never dies :)

Is that for U8815 Dadok?

Sure it is, I don`t have another phone :)

It might be worth checking, though.

Hay released 3-4 releases of v5 during last 7 days.

That one is the latest one (3.4.2 means 2013 04 02)

Guys, long-time lurker here. I downloaded MIUI v5 and installed it. Pretty good rom but one major (to me) flaw is that I cannot use an mp3 tune as a ringtone. Is it a known problem with this rom? Is there a fix?

Strange that you don't have problems with low ram, or your standards are set too low :).

Did you try to move your tune to system

media folder where the system ringtones are?

Yep. Several times over. Did the same for notifications.LED flashes when a text arrives. Also the Music app says there's no music on the sd card. Have done a clean re-install, pulled battery etc., all to no avail. Also edited the build prop , replacing the names of the default tones with the mp3 ones. If I pick a tone from the System List, it will work perfectly. Also works perfectly for making and receiving calls.

It is updater-script in META-INF/com/google/android/ folder. :)

Just delete first lines that have u8818 word.

Then it instals as it should :)

Tried that and got the following: "E:Error in /sdcard/miui_u8818_3.4.6_8bvbcdidh1_4.1.zip (Status 6). Installation aborted" :(

Probably a damaged zip.

How do I know?

Because it works!

And it works pretty good.

Still low on free ram, but this time it handles it properly.

Didn't test everything, but general feeling is good.

This is the best release since Cmiui GB.

How would you compare it to Baidu? Cheers

It worked! :) Gonna do some testing to see is it any faster then all other sluggish MIUI ROMs.

I wood like to have fast and stable MIUI ROM for a daily use.

If speed is your major concern - Baidu is a bit better.

But Miui is something different.

This is the first rom for g300 that is perfectly usable with average 50Mb of free ram
