After a long series of tests, trials and errors, the SDMergE400 mod is here!

The purpose of SDMergE400 mod is to get more space for user data by means of removing the unnecessary 1GB internal SDCARD. Technicaly it is done in 4 steps:

Step 1 - Update recovery to use custtom one that support expert partitioning
Step 2 - Re-partition the internal storage and create filesystems
Step 3 - Install fresh Cyanogenmod 9 nightly
Step 4 - Install SDMergE400 modifier for CM9 nightly.

Main features:

1. Extended data partition 1.15 GB
2. Battery / power up fix
3. USB Mass Storage fix
4. ICS device encryption fix
5. Ability to set up Suxsem 1GHz / tun / swap kernel after Step4.

How to install (for the first time - no previous SDMergE400 mod installed):

1. Download archive with all parts from http://sendfile.su/787227 and unpack its contents to External SD card. Download the latest CM nightly to your external SD card too. Make sure the phone is fully charged!

2. Ensure you have CWM 5.8.4.5 recovery installed.

3. Plug off the charger and reboot into recovery

4. Apply SDMergE400_Step1.zip from sdcard. The phone will reboot on success prompting you a new recovery.

5. Apply SDMergE400_Step2.zip from sdcard. The phone will reboot on success prompting you an old recovery for step3 and step4 completion.

6. Apply CM9 install and after it completes, apply SDMergE400_Step4.zip from the sdcard.

7. Reboot and cross your fingers - after 2-3 minutes max you will see the SIM card PIN lock screen.

How to apply newer CM nightlies:

1. Copy CM9 nightly to external card

2. Apply from CWM recovery

3. Apply SDMergE400-Step4.zip from external card

4. Reboot normal

All you user data should remain intact.

How to revert the mod:

1. Reflash KDZ to stock 2.3.6 kernel.

Thank you! LG should employ you as their lead programmer!

By the way, I opened a topic about this on XDA. Hope you don't mind.

Flashing Suxsem's OC kernel won't break the fixes? Or do you mean your updated version of his kernel? Edited by f3tus

It is great to have a topic at XDA :) Suxsem original kernel will break everything, but tomorrow I hope to compile a fixed one with latest changes.

Now you don't need it. Unless you have more than 1 GB of apps :)

This will wipe all the data on first install, right?

Also, will recovery/Titanium backups work normally with the new partitioning system? Edited by f3tus

Gellmar, does this mod also fix the high battery drain? With GB I can stay two days without charge, but on CM9 I can't even reach an entire day.

I already checked, every week I have to go back to GB because this problem. I installed Juice Defender, but it doesn't help. During nights with the GB the battery porcentage doesn't down, but on CM9 it down almost 8%

Do not restart - power off. It is a known bug but it has nothing to do with battery itself. I should investigate it but how?

Okay. I will install CM9 and try unchecking the boxes and take some screenshots before and after.
Thank you by the attention :)

You could also try Greenify and No-frills CPU Control. Not sure if No-frills needs a custom kernel or not, but I use it on my L5. Go into settings and set "Include deep sleep" to "on."

Don't include Juice Defender in Greenify, though.

I also will try the greenify, I have the No-Frills but I use it to change the cpu clock instead of use the system. How could I use it to save battery life?

Go into settings in No-frills and enable it to work in "deep sleep" as well. By default, it doesn't. Exclude No-frills from Greenify as well.

smartassV2 as governor and sio (or noop) as I/O Scheduler work the best.

Edit: never mind about No-frills. It won't help... Edited by f3tus
