I used saqkh on eBay to unlock my g300 about 2 weeks ago and thought it was a great service.

TWRP allows you to update to 4.2.2 as well. Didn't you know that?

Nope never knew OTA updates for JB would work on TWRP. I've only ever used CWM.

@seamie, no need to make a list as all the apps you have ever installed on your phone should be listed in the play store itself. Just open play store, press the menu button, select My Apps then slide to right under the heading "All", and everything you've installed is listed there.

Along with the other suggestions I'll add carbon to the list off backup apps. Although I've found that some apps don't like to be recovered, so I've still had to re-download them when trying a new roms. http://www.modaco.com/topic/360850-app-carbon-by-clockworkmod/

The carbon instruction says:

1. Install Carbon on Android

a) Root user? You're done!

Does it mean that I have to unlock the phone first ?

Also use Settings/backup and reset/... check "backup my data" and "Automatic Restore"

Google servers are supposed to know your Apps and Data and should restore after reset.

But if you change ROM or device it don't work, in my experience.

But it might!!

Wait a minute - I thought I need to buy unlock code (Ebay) to have it sim unlocked.

Can I install cm 10.1 without unlocking the phone ?

Yes ... Unlocking your phone to use any Sim card from Vodafone, BT GiffGaff etc is not required to install any rom.
