So what is the problem with providing the unlock? The phone does not belong to Huawei nor was it sold direct to us.

Agreed! It's always the way, they seem to be protective of their devices for no real reason. But hey, that's the fun and games :P

There is no problem with the bootloader unlock. And they sell the phones locked to prevent idiots from messing things up and returning the phones back to the networks. If you unlock the device then you agree to the terms provided and your warranty is void. If you mess up then that's your own fault.

And Huawei aren't the only manufacturer that does this. Samsung, HTC, Sony.. should I go on?

Answer to question about unlocking bootloader and warranty:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Huawei device.

Sorry about that if you unlock the Bootloader that means that your device is out of warranty.

But if your has problems with your device , maybe you can try to send your device to local Huawei service center to fix with cost.

Once again thank you for contacting Huawei device.

Best Regards.

Huawei Device Customer Care Team.

Still waiting for code...

Somebody at Huawei has misunderstood your request. Try again.

Yea, I gather this is why they have the whole "Submit a code to unlock your bootloader" thing - if they provide an official way it makes it the easiest way, and they have a way to check if it's been unlocked.

But like I said elsewhere, I'd welcome the opportunity to invalidate my warranty

Can't you now build CWM and CM10.1 against the kernel source and just flash it over the existing rom?

:P

Did you need to put the phone into recovery or fastboot or anything first, or was it just on and plugged into the computer?

I just want to be ready to unlock mine as soon as the code arrives!

Follow the guide at the start of this thread, and yes the phone does need to be in fastboot mode, volume down and power hold down for 10 seconds and away you go.

主题: Fwd: Bootloader Unlock

Dear Sirs,

I have sent numerous emails now requesting the BOOTLOADER unlock for my phone, your website does not have the Ascend G510-0100 as an option so I have had to manually request it, I have been doing this since 22-04-2013 which is 10 days, you say it will only take 3 days!!!

I am part of a forum and we have bought several G510 phones and none of us have had a code yet, please can you send me the BOOTLOADER unlock key, thank you

Regards

Andrew

I've just requested the bootloader unlock key from Huawei to the addresses kindly provided by AndyMac1969.I'll let you know how I go on.

In the meantime can anyone help me with inputting the key to my G510 once I get it. What exactly do I need to do this?

It's easy, just follow this word for word, worked like a charm.
