this project is for our common benefit

I had gb running on b7610. Will check if I can recover any of the sources for it. These could easily be adapted to i8000

this is a starting point: https://github.com/omnia2droid/Android

it contains a manifest containing all sources needed to build froyo

What is not there is device specific sources. We can reconstruct them from spica device sources

edit: ah found my manifest for gingerbread, which worked:

http://pastebin.com/V9xRHCwj

the devicesources are not on my github anymore :( but I will try to reconstruct this weekend for I8000

What I need is (sorry for being lazy) a link to a working image for I8000 to make a working image for I8000.

It is too long ago to refigure that, so I want to implement it over a working froyo image to test it.

Please do keep in mind I have no hardware to test myself!

Tested http://sourceforge.n...gingerbread234/ .

With Ubuntu un-tar all to ext4 (internal storage). Open folder with files as Administrator and copy all inside to root of ext4 (due to wrong package, it un-tar in single folder). Delete above folder.

Copy dpram.ko, libertasspi.ko, multipdp.ko from any (latest) working Omnia2 ROM to system/lib/modules. Edit lines to load modules in init.rc file (begining of file) accordingly.

Delete from SD folder both radio bin and add any radio bin you like.

Edit system/etc/mount.sh to load correct radio bin and modules.

Replace files for hard buttoms in usr folder.

Save all and star with Twister 1 zImage.

SD card - ok, swap - ok, internet 3G - ok.

Can increase fonts, till next reboot. Can choise gsm provider.

No sounds, no Wi-Fi, no bluetooth.

It is not fast due to need to be edited. Can not run root script.

That all what i did.

I can make image and give a link...

Thx for the link, but there is no file in it

i think you must give the download link of the file direct, not your personal folder...

Should be OK now. Sorry.

If you want to see Internal storage edit init.rc same as omlaxy.

Add "mkdir /storage 0755 system system",

"mount vfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /storage iocharset=utf8

chown system system /storage

chmod 0777 /storage" and create folder "storage" in the root of ext4.

no sound could be a permissions issue. Can someone do next:

1. Start a media player or phonecall

2. Connect to phonewith usb and start adb shell

3. In adb shell, type following command:

strace -f mediaserver

4. Copy and paste output to pastebin.com and post link here

Also (will check myself later) are there any links to sources used for this rom? Both kernel- and androidsources. Kernel must have sources as it is under gpl regulation.

Edit: typo... mediaplayer should be mediaserver

On the kernel side, the most advanced "open source" kernel for i8000 can be found here:

https://github.com/ipaq3870/o2droid

(see under kern_2.6.32)

And a topic here about it:

NB: the original author has disappeared for a while... :-(

And a nice ROM that is working: http://o2droid.phj.hu/index_en.php

And: http://code.google.com/p/omnia2droid/

Give us some news!

Hi sam, thanks for your infomations!

In Twister 2 kernel is already 2.6.32.9: till now it is the best tested.

Same Twister 2 is last evolution of CyanogenMod beta 2.

Hi Antoxa, news from your effort to develop ginger for omnia?

Yesterday at 19.00 i have booted rom till today morning: at 6 a.m. phone was dead.

I think cause is not scaling frequencies processor to deep sleep, so too much battery drain.

With the same kernel (kukafei) in twister 2 battery consumption for same time is maximum 10% of total.

I'll test again after installing cpuspy to control
