CM7 rom?

I was wondering were there any plans for a cm7 rom? It would kind of make sense since our device doesn't have a lot of ram on it.

Zte Blade III has sold with ics, so gb roms arent compabtible with it. Maybe these works, but propably cm7 would work much slower and will be half-working build.

V889D and V880E have gingerbread as well as some localized Acqua variants. ZTE has also published a gingerbread kernel source (linux 2.6.x) that should work for us. That should be everything you'd need to make a fully working CM7 port for Blade III.

That said, there's just absolutely no point in doing that and I can't see why any sane person would do it. ;) From RAM management perspective it would make more sense to invest in doing a proper CM9 port. Or if you must have gingerbread, then trying to port a gingerbread stock ROM from V889D would take significantly less amount of work than starting absolutely everything from the scratch and porting CM7.

Edit. Lol, I just had to try it. After ten minutes of hard work. :P

RIL doesn't work, everything else seems fine.

Well, Android system uses slightly less RAM in ICS than in JB. GB uses even less but it's going to be slow and terrible at some places nevertheless. In gingerbread UI isn't hardware accelerated the same that it is in Android 4.x. 512mb is just about enough to run any current Android version even though more RAM certainly wouldn't hurt.

So the best thing would be to port a CM9 rom to our device? Can you recommend one so I can try my hand at porting it?

I use this forum like I use google, if it isn't on the first page, there's no point in searching for it. :')

Huh, CM7? Where?

I did a quick port of ZTE V889D stock ROM. It's a dual-SIM device so RIL doesn't work on our device. It also still has all the dual-SIM features in dialer/settings/etc. ZTE customization looks just plain horrible on that ROM as well. I'm never going to release it...
