Yes - unless

(a) you want to stick with the unofficially unlocked ICS bootloader and run the risk of 3G reboots

(b) the DC Unlocker approach to unlocking works (you will still have to revert to stock - e.g. ICS B952 - to do this)

© you want to revert to the inherently unlocked GB bootloader and a GB ROM

You need to read the full unlocking tutorial - the links above are two individual posts in that tutorial thread.

Hope this helps.

You may have to try several times by email of the online form does not elicit a response.

Many people had to persist in order to get their bootloader unlock codes.

I got answer that they sent me correct code and they sent me the same code again:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Huawei device.

Having caheck the code 1482161382369094 we provide is correct one.

Please kindly double check your unlock procedure.

Below please check the unlocking procedure for your reference:

Unlocking Procedure

Preparation

  1. Download the driver for your device from Huawei Device’s official website to a computer.
  2. Download the ADB toolkit from Google’s website and install it on the computer. For example, install the toolkit to D:\adb_tools-2.0. Ensure that the folder contains the fastboot.exe file.

Unlocking procedure

  1. Switch the device to fastboot mode.

Power off the device. (Note: Go to the settings menu and disable the fastboot function, or power off the device, remove the battery, and then wait for at least 2 seconds before reinstalling the battery.) For a mobile phone, press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for at least 10 seconds (for a tablet, press and hold the volume up and power keys).

  1. Connect the device to the computer.

Connect the device to the computer using a USB cable. From the computer, open the command window, enter the directory where the ADB toolkit is installed, and check that the device is connected to the computer properly. To do so, enter fastboot devices, and press Enter, if a message such as 9e42530e fastboot is displayed, the connection is set up properly.

  1. Run the unlocking command.

In the computer’s command window, enter fastboot oem unlock password, for example, fastboot oem unlock 1234567812345678.

  1. Complete the device bootloader unlocking.

Enter the unlocking password. Your device then restarts. (If the password entered is correct, the device will be restored to its factory settings, after which the device restarts and enters standby mode. The device’s bootloader is unlocked. If the password entered is incorrect, a message is displayed and the device enters standby mode.)

  1. Check whether the unlocking succeeded.

Repeat steps 1 and 2. In the computer’s command window, enter fastboot  oem  get-bootinfo, the bootloader lock state of your device is displayed. Bootloader Lock State: LOCKED indicates that the bootloader is still locked. Re-perform the unlocking procedure and check that the password is correctly entered. Bootloader Lock State: UNLOCKED indicates that your device’s bootloader has been unlocked. You can then install a third-party firmware.

To lock the bootloader after unlocking it: 1. Restore the device’s software to the Huawei official version using a microSD card. 2. Switch the device to fastboot mode, and enter fastboot oem relock password (password is a 16-digit number) in the computer’s command window. 3. The device then restarts, and the bootloader lock state turns to Bootloader Lock State: UNLOCKED.

Once again thank you for contacting Huawei device.

Best Regards.

Huawei Device Customer Care Team.

First I will check again IMEI, SN, MAC.. and see if I maybe sent wrong data to huawei.

If I sent correct data, I realy do not know what to do?

Can I try DC unlocker procedure?

Double check the data that you send and make sure that it's 100% correct.

If it was then email them yet again asking for the code.

Just send a new email and don't bother referring to the previously sent code which does not work.

If they keep sending you the same code and it definitely does not work then you may have to just use the DC Unlocker approach.

If the free DC Unlocker method does not work then you will probably have to pay them the $1/€1 or whatever it costs to do the paid bootloader unlock.

Make sure that you are following the tutorial correctly and that you are on stock ICS (e.g. B952) when attempting to unlock.

If all else fails you could just revert to GB as I keep suggesting! :D

yes, I'm now on stock rom, bootloader is locked, I got same fastboot info as is mentioned in unlock, relock, revert to stock thread.....

I follow the procedure very strictly, step by step, when phone rebooted It display wrong code info (red text).

But I will check again all data, try again with this code if data is correct..., try dc unlocker....

This is reallly frustrating.... :(

I have checked again (many times) all 3 codes, sn, mac, imei...and I sent correct codes to huawei.

I try again to unlock without success. In cmd it says okay, but on phone it says unlock failed, wrong code.

Then I use dc unlocker but also it did not work, unlock code is not displayed. I only get these data:

Model
IMEI
Wi-Fi MAC
BlueTooth MAC
SIM Lock status

I will send again new email to huawei and hope that they send me different code.

How do I request bootloader unlock code from DC unlocker?

Thank you.

I don't know why the Huawei code will not work.

Was the IMEI ever modified on your phone?

I also don't know why the Huawei form for requesting the code doesn't work for you.

If the free DC Unlocker bootloader unlock is not working for you:

https://www.dc-unlocker.com/free-huawei-bootloader-unlock-tutorial

Then I think that you use the paid network unlock to also unlock the bootloader but I'm not 100% sure:

Maybe check the DC Unlocker forums e.g.

That's why it isn't working, gingerbread doesn't have a bootloader. If your phone shipped with gingerbread or you used the update.app to get back on gingerbread, you have no bootloader. Basically this is all been a waste of time, you could just just flash a recovery etc. straight away :p

No, imei was not modified.

I have tried huawei unlock web site from different computer and it also not working, same error message. Btw, I got answer from huawei that I must use this page. I replied back that I can't use it.

This post is interesting:

https://www.dc-unlocker.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23234

exactly the same problem as I have in dc unlocker

Last post from moderator:

I see, then now you can unlock it only by force bootloader unlock from unlocking tab on dc-unlocker software after you detect the phone.

maybe I have to only click on unlocking tab in upper right corner and choose force bootloader unlock, I will try later today.

Thank you for your kind help.

Kind regards

Are you sure, because I get this info:

C:\adb>fastboot oem get-bootinfo

(bootloader)
*******************************************
(bootloader) Bootloader Lock State: LOCKED

(bootloader) System State: OK

(bootloader)
*******************************************
OKAY [ 0.006s]
finished. total time: 0.008s

C:\adb>

so bootloader is present, or maybe not ??

Thank you

Huh? Surely it does have a bootloader? Every device has one...

But if you are on GB then that is a problem here.

The whole point of the exercise is to unlock the ICS bootloader so you need to be on stock ICS (e.g. B952) as stated in the tutorial and by me several times already!

I did say several times that you should read the official unlocking tutorial in full and understand all of it before doing anything.

If you did this then you would see that it clearly states that you need to revert to stock ICS in order to attempt to unlock the ICS bootloader officially.

The GB bootloader is inherently unlocked and it or some hacked version was used in the past work as an unlocked bootloader under ICS but this caused 3G reboots and other issues.

To install custom ICS/JB/KK ROMs without such problems you need to be on stock ICS and unlock the bootloader officially using the Huawei code or maybe DC Unlocker.

Not only should you not be on GB when trying to officially unlock - attempting to do so can brick the device as far as I know. It will be recoverable but it's yet more hassle that you can do without.

If you are having so many problems with all of this then I would suggest yet again that you consider sticking with GB bootloader/baseband/ROMs.

I'm so very sorry, please eccept my apology.

I followed install procedure and used this 2 files:

http://www.mediafire.com/folder/ldpiddddteoxu/Force_Update

I see now :(  : This is an ICS, B952 Update

Again sorry for this.

So, I'm not on GB.

I will wait again for huawei code, or try dc unlocker - force bootloader unlock (if this exist) or maybe wrote an email to dc unlocker......

Kind regards

Ok - that makes sense.

If you had been on GB and tried to unlock the bootloader you might have bricked the device (recoverable but hassle).

If you can't get a working code from Huawei then I guess that DC Unlocker might be the only option.

As you say you might want to check the DC Unlocker forum or ask  them if/how you can do a (paid?) forced unlock of the bootloader since the free approach does not work for you.

I don't know if their paid network unlock procedure also unlocks the bootloader as a by produce of the unlocking process?

I was not on GB :)

Yes, I will wait on unlock code from huawei, try dc unlocker - force bootloader unlock, and on the end contact dc unlocker (if first two are nos successfull)

Last option, I will stay on ICS, B952

Thank you for your help

I got third code from Huawei but it is the same as first and second.

So no luck.

I tried: dc unlocker - force bootloader unlock, but it also did not work.

Now I'm waiting on answer from dc-unlocker....

But I think I will have to stay on 4.0.3 :(

Do you maybe know any other method for unlocking bootloader?

Thank you.
