Hello

So the other day, When I was getting my Hudl 2 replaced (Due to a update loop*), some of the staff at the Tesco store were talking about the lollipop update.

They said that it was already out, and that my Hudl was having a hard time updating to it. I haven't seen the update appear on my new Hudl though...

Could this be a sign that the update is ready to be released?

I might just be mad, or it could be coming soon :P

*Luckily, they didn't find out it was Rooted.

I'm running a vanilla Hudl2 running 4.4.2 last updated 06/01/2015 and the update tool tells me that I'm up to date. So I guess any potential up date is not yet available.

This has been discussed in another thread here. Intel have to write the code that allows android to run on their chips such as the one inside the Hudl2. That code hadn't been updated since last year when it was released to run Android 4.4.2.

Looks like Tesco are at least testing Lollipop on the Hudl 2

"We are currently investigating into making it viable for the Hudl2 and as such have no official announcement to make as to a potential release date, I myself am also hoping an announcement is made soon"

At first I thought it meant that Intel can now run Android Lollipop on tablets using their chips but that website references a specific chip set. The Hudl2 has a a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3735D quad-core processor and I think that's different to what's on that web link.

Spoke to tech support, devs are testing lollipop builds for the Hudl 2. It might be in the future but at least some conformation that indeed android lollipop is coming to Hudl 2. :)
