Sorry, yes i forgot to add this information...

The device is: CHUWI VI10 plus - CWI527
The patch i've downloaded was the  B2016080801, I haven't done any backup before ...

(I've received it last Week and I've just installed your RemixOS version without any problems, Thanks you so much)

I'm glad you got it sorted out. :)

I'm still wondering how you had B2016080802 on your Vi10 Plus. Apparently it's just too much to keep up with all of these device and all possible firmware versions.

When i've started the tablet for the first time, and connected to wifi, an update show up ...
I was thinking it was the same as here.

Unfortunately can't create a dm-verity patch from this OTA because it doesn't have full boot image and I don't have the previous firmware (B2016072207) it's patching. Yeah, I received an OTA right away, too. It looks like the orignal firmware was different on your device as well. No idea why. :o

B2016072501->B2016080801
B2016072207->B2016080802

Let me check on my Vi10 Plus. Might be able to supply the missing firmware version if mine comes with it.

UPDATE: Mine shipped with the B2016072501 firmware, so no help from here.

Hi!

I have the new Chuwi Hi10 Pro with Intel Z8350 CPU. However, my firmware is still 20161102. When I go to Update screen, it says I have the newest firmware.

Can I use the files for 20161102 or do I have to update somehow?

There's already a patch for that build available in the OP.

None. I'm not aware of 20161025 build for Hibook Pro being available for download anywhere. If you can upload boot partition dump/backup or 20160906->20161025 OTA file I can create a patch for that build.

You are to late, I already flashed your CM12. But I did backup some stuff, I have to offer boot.emmc and boot.emmc.win. I received my Chuwi on tuesday, so it's pretty new. I decided to root because the performance wasn't very good, especially in the Google Santa Tracker app and animations weren't as fluid as you would expect it from a device with a CPU equal to an 805.

However I hope I can help you supporting this version.

Yeah, this is redundant if you're just going to proceed straight to installing a custom ROM.

Please upload boot.emmc.win and system.ext4.win from that backup.

I was just confused because the start post names 20161208 as the stock firmware for Z8350.

20161208 is what Chuwi has posted for Hi10 Pro z8350 (serial number after Hi10 HQ64G42160905000). Or maybe that batch has some other hardware changes as well and needs a different firmware, who knows. There's already a stupid amount of devices and firmware versions to keep track.

Yeah. They haven't changed anything but the CPU, afaik. I have no idea if the kernels are different or anything. I guess I'll just try the package corresponding to the firmware version I got installed and not to the model.

The serial number of my model starts with PQ, so it's definitely newer. Seems Chuwi doesn't even install the newer firmware on all devices themselves.

@KonstaT

I managed to get root with the help of that file on my Hi10 Plus (8350) that came from factory with And 5.1 version: cht_cr_mrd_w .... 20161108.091625 ( NOT remixOS )

I hope this info helps others as well so you'd know you could update the OP with these details.

Also, if someone looking for DRIVER ONLY for win8-10 x64 - one can get it from here:
http://drivers.drp.su/Telephone/Leshcat/WinAll/Leshcat-WinAll-drp.exe
(source: https://devid.drp.su/?dev=USB\VID_8087%26PID_09EF )
NOTE: don't be afraid from the exe... no need to run it... just UNPACK IT with winzip/7zip etc... and enter "drivers\DP_Telephone_16122\Leshcat\WinAll" folder to redirect device manager with the missing FASTBOOT & ADB DRIVERS.
NOTE2: I was using FASTBOOT mode when I installed that driver... after choose the above folder path it gave me only "Adb" option...
I choose the 1st even though I was using fastboot mode - it works just fine.
later when I booted into TWRP, it already auto-recognized the previously installed driver.. so every thing is fine.

Thanks a LOT for the dev you'd done so far ! :-)

That's exactly the file you were supposed to use. I don't know if all Hi10 Plus devices shipping with that firmware have updated z8350 hardware (AFAIK only BIOS is different on software side).

You can copy the file to any storage TWRP supports (internal storage, external sdcard, USB OTG storage) or even flash using adb sideload via computer.

No, you can't use these files on mismatching builds.

OK, so the problem is that you're running newer firmware. Files and labels here are fine. I just haven't done anything that is meant for B2016092601 because I did't know it even excisted. You must have received OTA just yesterday?

Can you upload the OTA zip somewhere? Maybe it includes fixes for the freezing & keyboard dock issue (fingers crossed). You can find the OTA file in a directory called 'autoupdater' on your sdcard. File should be called something like 'signed_incremental_cw_vi10plus_eu_2.0-5.1.1-B2016080801-B2016092601.zip'.

You still shouldn't have installed a file that doesn't match your firmware version. Basically you're now running Remix OS with stock Android's boot image and it's not fine though things are seemingly working. I'll make a proper patch for B2016092601 when I get my hands on the update.

I guess that's possible, too. Latest firmware in Chuwi's site for Vi10/Hi10 Plus is B2016072501 (same one my device was shipped with) and then there was an OTA to B2016080801. I'd expect Chuwi to push out an OTA to B2016092601 as well.

Did you happen to create a backup in TWRP before you flashed anything from this thread? Can you upload boot and system files from that backup (these don't have any of your personal data - don't upload data)?

Hi @KonstaT

I made TWRP backup of my hi10 PLUS (Z8300) with RemixOS firmware B2016092601.

Can you please make a patched dm-verity for that version as well ?

Here is a 7zip file, extract it then you'll have the files TWRP backup files.
The backup includes both system & boot "partitions" of firmware B2016092601.

Please tell me if you need any other files/partitions backups.

LINK: @KonstaT - I sent you PM with download link.

small question... Can you please clarify the patched-"dm-verity" need ?
Have I understood correctly, that only ppl that retain STOCK android ( aosp/remix from chuwi ) needs that patch inorder to be able to R/W on system partition ?
I.E, AFAI understood, whomever wants to use your custom CM12.1/13 roms, do NOT need to pre-flash the patched-"dm-verity" from this thread, since this patch already included with your custom rom's kernel ( you provide in the other threads of this forum )  - am I right ?

P.S - thanks for your WONDERFUL work so far !

Hi KonstaT,

i have installed the dm-verity patch "Vi10 Plus & Hi10 Plus: Remix OS B2016080801" on my Hi10 Plus, but afterwards WiFi is not working. Yes, build numbers match :)

Are there any updates on the patch or do you have any other advice?

Best regards,

gommelz
