"SPV's Stolen at Heathrow" Possibly a Diversion!!

7 posts in this topic

I'm not saying this is true but I have a strange feeling that the reported SPV phones that were stolen at Heathrow could well be Orange misleading us.

Maybe they knew the 1st batch of phones were too faulty to sell so they recalled all of the new stock back to fix up and made up a story to divert everyones direction to a bunch of thieves. At this rate of delay and with Christmas approaching people trying to get hold of an spv might be delayed until early January before we can get hold of an SPV and which by that time, maybe the SPV's they sell then will have the software fix?

What does everyone think?

Nice. I think phones were nicked from Heathrow.... but I think Orange is not hurrying to resupply because of the level of returns and are using the theft as a convenient excuse.

Doubt that, people are still ording them so I think Orange would still supply them. They're not gonna fix all the issues in time for a relaunch...

hmmmm

do u think orange will resupply SPV's for new orders using the phones that they recieved back from disatisfied customers? Because the number of returned phones is one big amount. So what do orange do with them? bin them? Throw them around the warehouse?????

Normally these returns will be "reconditioned" and then used as replacements for faulty phones. This will probably happen as normal. In fact the "I'm on my 4th SPV" people are probably on someone elses reconditioned return. Reconditioned phones are usual QC'd pulled apart and put back together. In the past they often exhibit a lower build quality from being pulled apart etc and friends of mine have had poor results with them.

New purchasers will hopefully get new boxed phones because I would personally be pretty pissed if they tried to give me second hand kit as my first SPV.

Did you know that SPV really stands for Startrek Phone for Vulcans !

On a more serious note.

It is illegal to sell reconditioned goods as new, so this is unlikely to happen.

The returned handsets will be tested, refurbished and used as replacement handsets.

This is standard practise for all consumer goods.
