Sharing Smartphone 2002 files with non-MS phones

16 posts in this topic

Hi people!

My friends who are NOT SmartPhone users are so envious of the Wave files, the movies (trailers), and the skins which I have downloaded onto my Tanager.

How can I send or share these files with them?

They have Nokia 3650 and 3530

Im not sure about their Nokia if it plays .wav files or those movie trailers (depends maybe on what format), but if it does, you can send/share the files by IR using the Smart Explorer. For the skins/themes, definitely they cant use it on their Nokias...its for Smartphones only 8)

and question...What's the difference between SD card and MM Card? pwede ko ba silang gamitin pareho sa tanager ko?

and another question....Why can't I view the addict mobile menu on the STK service? Is this a bug? If it is...where can we report bugs? Definitely not to Smart dahil wala naman sila magagawa tungkol dito

one last question...kaya ba i run ng tanager and pocket pc apps?

Both SD and MMC can be used with the Tanager. Physically, the SD is a bit thicker than the MMC, and it has a lock to prevent data deletion just like a floppy disk, whle the MMC doesnt have a lock. The SD has a higher speed than the MMC. The only advantage of the MMC is that its cheaper than the SD.

In my opinion, PPC apps cant be used/installed to a Smartphhone. If you notice, PPC apps are used with stylus/screentouch technology unlike the Smartphone. I could be wrong though...

I just browsed my friends User's Manual for his 3650. I think Nokia uses Real Player files and the Symbian operating system.

So unless there is a file conversion program, I don't think I can share files with Nokia users.

Am I right about this? :?:

Some have done this so far...converting DVD movies into DivX or Mpeg format so they can watch it on the Smartphone..try to ask at the Main Forum. I didnt think of doing this myself since I only have a 128Mb SD card already full of Games and movie trailers/ funny video clips and MP3s/ WMAs.

As for software version upgrades, I believe there is non yet for the Tanagers but if there will be, Im sure we can find it somewhere in the net....like Orange's Canary.

I was able to buy a 128Mb Sandisk and TwinMos SD card for P3,900.

the price of the SD or MMC card varies with the brand. though i've seen on this forum that Sandisk seems to have a problem with the SAP, i have a 256 MB SD card and haven't encountered any problems with it. for converting movies to Divx format, check out the Software thread with topics on PocketMVP (PocketDivX).

i've seen generic memsticks. my friend's cybershot uses a generic memstick. but still, the are more expensive than cf or sd/mmc.
