@reyes_rl: first of all, can you get PocketTV to run. Second, where are your mpeg files located...

Give us more info and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out with this one.

If you see any weird tings happening to the phone... let us know too. :)

Hi Carlo, well its just as short video clip of my daughter that I recorded on my Sony camcorder and i downloaded into my PC. In the ipaq it runs perfectly using the Pocket TV for the Pocket PC but i dont see anything when i tried to run it in the smartphone. I got PocketMVP where I can play trailers of movies. Do I need to compess the file and if I do how? Thanks man. :)

@reyes_rl: okay... so where did you place the file? Did you place it in the IPSM folder? In the My Documents folder? In the Storage Card (SD/MMC)?

What file format is it? MPEG-1 or AVI?

This might help although this was posted May 04 pa somewhere in another thread (under Software) I just forgot the link..not sure if there's a newer version (note: you need the SmartExplorer and and SD card) :

UPDATED MAY 04 5:45 AM PST (BETA-15)

Click here for latest PocketTV CAB file! It is FREE and UNLIMITED <http://www.mpegtv.com/wince/pockettv/cab/PocketTV.SMARTPHONE_ARM.CAB>

We have a beta of PocketTV for Smartphone available to the public. This new product has not been released or announced officially yet.

If you are very familiar with installing software on the Smartphone, just read the uppercase instructions. If not, please read (and follow) carefuly ALL the instructions!

1) Your Smartphone needs to be unlocked. If you have an Orange SPV, Orange can unlock the SPV for you, legally and free! Just go to this Orange SPV unlock page <http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/comdefqfr.aspx> (in french!). Unlocking the phone will allow any un-signed application to run, and this may include applications that can cause your phone to malfunction. We promiss that PocketTV is safe and won't cause damages to your SPV!

2) You need a File Explorer. If you don't have any, you should install Smart Explorer from <http://www.binarys.com/smartphone/SmartExplorer_en.asp>

By default this beta of PocketTV uses Smart Explorer for its file selector (Smart Explorer is a small shareware that works very well).

If you want to use another File Explorer (e.g. IA File Manager <http://www.iastyle.com/iafmpack/index.asp>), just skip this step and follow the instructions that PocketTV will display when you click its Select command. If you have already installed IA File Manager, you can select to be the default file selector of PocketTV, using PocketTV Menu > Option > File Selector.

3) You need a Storage Card (make sure it's unlocked!)

4) Install PocketTV on the Storage Card (not on the phone) from its CAB file: <http://www.mpegtv.com/wince/pockettv/cab/PocketTV.SMARTPHONE_ARM.CAB>

To install from a CAB file, copy the CAB file on the phone manually using the Explore feature of ActiveSync. You can just copy it in the top-level of the phone (drag and drop the CAB in My Smartphone). Then start Smart Explorer (or another File Explorer) and open PocketTV.SMARTPHONE_ARM.CAB, it will install PocketTV.

You *MUST* select "Storage Card" for the installation location (not Phone). Because of a MS-known bug in the IPSM filesystem, the Smartphone cannot run large binaries like PocketTV when they are stored on the IPSM stratoflash (i.e. the internal flash of the phone). Yes, it's a major bug, but MS does not have a fix for the problem at this day. And the bug has been known by MS for 3 years!

5) Download some of our demo MPEG files optimized for Smartphone from

<http://www.pockettv.com/mpg/sp/> and copy them on your Storage Card, using the Explore feature of ActiveSync.

6) Start PocketTV to complete the installation process. This is an important step. Installation is not complete until you start PocketTV. Click here <http://www.pockettv.com/register> to get the free registration key that will unlock PocketTV. There is no time limit with this BETA version.

To play MPEG files, open them using the "Select" command of PocketTV. You can also open them directly from the File Manager of your choice.

Finally I got it to work! Thanks you guys, but is less "streaming" compared to the ipaq. But I can understand. Thanks again.
