Found this rather interesting entry on Engadget...

Ok, so some dude in Germany claims to have gotten their hands on a copy of iTunes for Windows Mobile 5.0. Let’s just get it right out of the way that we think this is fake. Or at least that we’re going to assume this is fake until we get some sort independent verification (email us the app already!). And you also have to wonder why exactly Apple would bother making a version of iTunes for Windows Mobile devices when they’ve been so reluctant to let even a single phone (the ROKR E1) run a mobile version of iTunes. It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense, but there are at least three possible explanations for what’s going on here:

This is real, and Apple has some sort of amazing reason for doing this.

The pics are fake and this is all an elaborate hoax.
This isn’t an Apple product and was instead created by some sketchy developer decided to mimic the look and feel of iTunes.
The true test would be whether or not a Pocket PC with iTunes would be able to play FairPlay DRM protected AAC files, but conveniently enough the person hasn’t been able to sync with iTunes on a Mac or PC because they lack the necessary drivers.

[Thanks, Zach and ticotek]

Now im guessing that this is fake, but just maybe... wink.gif

iTunes is not even on my "that would be nice" list.

I get cheap (legit) MP3s which I convert to WMAs out of habit more than anything else. I don't want another format that costs me more.

And what's with the ROKR only holding/playing 100 tracks? WTF! TCPMP handles around 600 for me at the moment, so that would be a huge backward step.

I never have understood why iTunes is so popular.

Yes I'm with you all the way on this one, it's an app i really don't think i would bother with on my PPC, that's not the interesting thing though. If it is real then that would show a move by Apple to grow the ITMS to a non Apple product (yes i know the ROKR is not technically Apple).

As for the 100 tune cap Apple wanted it to be 20 tunes!!

Yeah i know, sometimes i really wonder what the hell goes on in Steve Jobs head!!

I think it ended with Moto telling Apple that they were not happy with 20 (Jobs seems to forget that he runs a small company compaired to the big boys).

I agree, this was not the right article to link to. This is, again, a quite agressive, blown up and partially incorrect article of msmobiles. Even their members are starting to doubt msmobiles' way of bringing news...
