Hi, due to reason outlined in another thread, i have just hard reset my device.

This time i allowed the t-mobile customisations to take place, i have found that i now have a fancy shortcut bar at the base of my home screen.

What i would like to know is, how can i change what is displayed on this bar, i cannot a settings program anywhere!!

TIA

Rob

Just in case::

i dont know if its a t-mobile thing or an HTC thing!

i have seen it in screenies showing different things.

Its the bar at the bottom of the screen

if i knew how.... i would take a screenshot of it to show you (HINT)!!

basically my, only slightly customised as in things removed, home screen has this:

Date,

tasks,

messages,

Calendar,

THEN Right at the very bottom of the screen this strange bar with icons in it, These icons are: (right to left)

comm mgr, battery, rotate screen, SPACE, File Explorer, Sim contacts, call registerm, web'n'walk, SPACE, (when running) TTN6

hope this helps you guess what bar i am talking about, basically i want to change these icons, or if not, remove the toolbar completely (not in home screen items!?)

TIA

Rob

I don't think you can!

P

if this is the case, is there a way of removing it (other har resetting and stopping t-mob customisation.

Then a way of puttin like the original HTC one for artemis on, the one that has like the mouse mode icon etc as mentioned in your review!?

I have the same bar on my MDA Compact 3, although for some reason the icons seem to be in a different order to yours. I haven't found a way of getting rid of it, although to be honest I find some of the icons useful being there all the time - eg the rotate screen one before starting Tom Tom 6; the battery indicator, and file manager.

It would be good to be able to remove ones you don't need, and perhaps add others that might be more useful - if you find a way of doing it let us know!

The shortcut bar at the bottom is EXACTLY what I have, and would like to know how to customise and/or remove. Clearly things can be done to change it as when I run tomtom I get a tomtom shortcut down there, and when when I installed the anti virus stuff that came on the PC that too put a shortcut down there. I actualy posted this question in the customisation forum here

http://www.modaco.com/System-Tray-Quick-La...al-t250806.html

but as you can see, I didnt get much of a response. Alas. If you find a way to shift it then please lemme know

OKay, i just installed wisbar advanced desktop and wisbar advanced 2.

on the desktop when i select 'show todaydar' on the page menu then the bar reappears with the taskbar.

is there some application kinda like windows task manager, so i can see all the running processes, and if there is summat which looks like it could be to do with that bar stop it from running, then using the search feature find it and delete it (after backing it up of course!) :)

I've found how to do this.

You need to use a registry editor to edit the following entries to customize it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\TrayApplet

Under that key there are number of sub keys labelled (on my device)

0

3

4

5

6

7

8

Each one then has a entry called

LaunchApPath

ResPath

For a blank icon each needs to have a entry called BlankIcon

I'm still experimenting with the entries but thus far I've been unable to add anything that's on the Storage Card as a new entry. I've successfully replaced the Explorer icon with Resco Explorer.

But that's it so far. I'll see if renaming the TrayAP.exe works to disable it.

EDIT: Rename the TrayAP.exe to TrayAP2.exe disabled it.

I'm now using Ilauncher as a replacement (as it's easier to decide what goes where in the tray)

I have managed to add shortcuts to apps on the storage card, but cant get an icon to appear. It just appears as blank space, but clicking the blank space results in the app launching (total commander being the one I have experimented with). If someone figures out how to add the icons please lemme know
