Being a man's man secure in his masculinity who is also in touch with his feminine side ( ahem ;) ) I have no problem with pink, and I like to try to be a bit different....

So, vote in this poll and decide which colour Qtek handset I get! Unless a Silver varient surfaces before eXpansys get them in stock I'll buy whichever this poll decides I should. The power is YOURS!

Speaking as an obsessive pink-lover, even I have to say that the pink one looks a bit cheap, and like a toy phone out of a pound shop.

The black one looks much better.

Metrosexual is so last year and pink suggests 'frivolous' which just isn't you, so I'd go for black.

No, silver. Black is too common.

To be fair, I've held a pre-release black one and that felt cheap as well ;)

Why they couldn't do it in metal I don't know!

Am I right in thinking this is the first time we genuinely have a choice in colour for HTC smartphones rather than having to go to different resellers to get different variations? Oh, decisions, decisions...

I think silver will look good if they use decent plastic.

But being 'lastyear' is sooo nextyear and by the time this handset's actually out frivolous will be back in again...

I just don't know what to do!

C'mon people! VOTE!

I must say the polling is disappointing. Will young people today not vote on anything that isn't Big Brother ?!?

:) :)

Black for me :)

I need a new Smartphone, I feel out of date with my C550 now :)

I still have a C500 < which I think is best until one with WiFi and GPS comes, or at least GPS since I have unlimited data!

and I would go for the Black!

Maybe I should add a premium rate text number? :)

Looks like black's in the lead ( until a silver one is announced ;) )

It also depends which network you are on if your on o2, orange go for the black , if on vodafone you have a choice but if your a t-mobile customer there is only one colour pink, be like the workers in t-mobile here who all get a free pink coloured phones , be strong and go for pink if you dont like it then you can give it to a girlfriend :)

Note: The posted picture (the first post in this thread) of the black Qtek 8500 is the old design version which has been updated.. the final design is different, where two of the three "rings" have been removed. And the music buttons on the front are now in a shiny silver like finish, instead of matt black. They have also slightly changed the materials the keypad is made of. But i am confused as to what is was, and what it is now.. Think it was teflon or something, now its some fancy, more robust and better looking stuff.. :)

Ive attached some images of the final version, which in my opnion looks better, although they have supposedly changed the key-backlight from blue to white. Me being a blue-light lover, am slightly dissapointed.

At any rate, i favor, by far, the black version of the phone.. very much looking forward to it.

I have the black one now and it isn't metal like my old razr but the black makes up for it somewhat. Having seen the finish, I think the same in pink would be truly awful.

I say go for the black it makes the phone look alot thinner.

Slightly off topic.. are these specs acurate?

http://www.qtekcorp.com/products.aspx?Leve...el=34&Submenu=2

It only has a 750mAh battery? And when they say office mobile i assume they mean they bundle clearvue with it?

I guess its functionally identical to an 8310, although a fair bit thinner?

I have to say tho, i measured my 8310 (SP5 actually) and it measures 18.4mm even tho they quote 17.5, maybe i need to recalibrate my guage?!

I agree, go with the black!!

Yeah I'm a bid concerened with the low powered battery, I can only assume they used it to keep the size and weight down, maybe larger capacity ones can be got!

One thing the 8310 has over the Flip is WIFI (big plus) and the better battery and the use of a regular USB slot (which would be nice in the flip)

Well after an initial shaky start black POWERS into the lead it would seem. And yet still something in my head is whispering 'pink...pink...pink!'

Of course, that voice's been there since my teenage years, but still :) ;) :)

I promise to abide by the results of this poll. Honest.

Come on someone, bring out the silver version for me to look at...

I'd avoid linking to bengalboy's reviews in future. Because he gets phones before anyone else people link to him or ripoff his images so he substitutes porn shots in the reviews on a rotation basis - he's known for it and people clicking on the links can unwittingly set off filters at workplaces etc etc...

Edit: That review says: "With its Super Thin profile, metal construction and keypad"....

Metal construction? The version I handled at the Mobile opertunities event was plastic!

2nd edit: NO EBAY LINKS YOU KNOW THE RULES :)

This guy's got 20 @

2nd edit: NO EBAY LINKS YOU KNOW THE RULES :)

You're angry? I'm ffffin furious! It's not MY ebay auction,I'm not promoting it in any way, it was relevant to the discussion in hand - I was linking to it for information - just as I have linked to expansys and other sellers. I've also added a suitable warning to potential buyers.

So what, should I post a new topic and link to it? I notice as well other ebay links have been left in this thread and other topics devoted entirely to discussing ebay auctions in the wrong section have been left completley alone eg

http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...=0entry741235

as well as the many posts saying 'i got my case from xxxx on ebay here'...

Jeeez, SOME CONSISTANCY PLEASE. :)

Edit: topic above has now been removed. Not moved into the ebay section - REMOVED. All it had was a link to 'cheap wifi cards on ebay' for the Safecom SD adaptor. Maybe if the mods REALLY crave this level of petty interference in trivial infringements they could get jobs as traffic wardens? Maybe some already have?

2nd Edit: Regarding the topic above removed - if the op had posted it in http://www.modaco.com/Bargains-f186.html would it have been removed - as that was the point of their post at least?

And as for rules on links to ebay auctions, well, all I remember / can find is that all SALES must be via ebay, not anything to do with not posting links for other's info in the middle of other topics. Obviously correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone asks 'where can I get XYZ cheap?' do we have to set up a topic in the ebay section to post a link to help them out?.....Sheeesh...

Being that your an ebay seller that everyone trusts and your concern about the sale in a whole was the reason the link was removed , not every modaco member is from the uk and some have problems understanding english fully , and may not have read your posting fully and could have bought a phone only to find they have an empty box delivered , something knowone on modaco wants . the advert itself shows pictures of the phone in 2 versions , the real phone and msmobiles photos from along time ago , which shows this seller does not have the phones at all.

Hmmmmmm...

so whearas before I'd broken the rules and should have known better, now it's beause it was a public service and *you* say the seller is fake. Do you work for ebay? The police? Have you contacted the seller?

I said 'proceed with caution' - as with anything where you buy from s stranger. YOU CANNOT catagorically state the seller has no items and is a fraud - he has explained to me in an email which version is supplied and provided more info which I mentioned, and there could be many reasons why he has used file photos - look at the critiscism I get for my photo taking - the seller has emailed my some photos taken with a camera phone of his stock, and has also agreed to my collection request if I decide to buy - nethier of which support your theory - which I would have added to the original post if the link was still there.

In this country there are concepts such as 'innocent till proven guilty' and 'defamation of character' you may want to famailiarise yourself with. You can go on all you want about modaco being an international site but a simple who-is query shows UK registration and the ebay seller / site is also governed by UK law.

So which rule did I actually break then? As you removed the link and said 'you know the rules' - it seems I don't - which rules says you cannot link to an ebay auction in the middle of a thread if it's on topic?

Again, the rule as far as I understand was no sales outside of ebay, this guy accepts paypal, and if a none english speaking person cannot read english properly they should not buy off an english seller via ebay with a listing in english in a different country. Your use as that for an excuse to remove the link is frankly ludicrous and differes from the comment you made in the edited post as it's not a 'rule' that's been borken.

If you had supplied the extra information then the link would not have been removed . all that was removed was the link if you check the post bellow it you will see that only the link was removed nothing else.

Right, now lets get back on topic with this one.

Any ebay links that you think may be questionable please make this as clear as possible for others to read.

And black is still the colour to go for unless you then want to give the phone to the other half.
