Also, why not just carry a calculator in your pocket? Why not just use a separate digital camera? Why not just walk around with a wall calendar under your arm?

As promised a while ago I've learnt how to make an Android app! This is pretty basic, but I think it covers the "security" worries that people have with giving out their IMEI to random web sites for free codes [odd that people feel happy when they are also giving out their money/eBay/address/bank details...!]. (Note: this is probably the most secure way of doing this that exists, since Android apps have to ask for permission to do stuff like use the internet or your SD storage, and this app only reads your phone state in order to get its IMEI -- it doesn't send or store any data anywhere, or access anything else.) The app shows your IMEI and generates the NCK code, but it doesn't attempt to apply it, so you have to note it down and follow the normal routine of inserting a different SIM into a ROM that cares about these things. See here for more details, and a video from Paul! (Maybe the next version will be able to automate this a bit, but don't hold your breath.) The "Reset Attempts (and Lock)" button will reset the phone's internal idea of how many unlock attempts you have back to the initial 5. It will also put it back in the state where it will prompt for the NCK code when you use a different provider's SIM. This may be useful for putting the phone back to (seemingly) the factory state, or for the reported occasions where interactions with Orange [unblocking a phone?] have reset their end of the network lock [?not sure about this?]. HAPPY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL!! BladeUnlock.zip

This ROM is based on official ZTE Libra Gingerbread ZTE-BLADEV1.0.0B01 Android 2.3.5 (built Fri Aug 26 05:41:18 HKT 2011). This ROM will detect whether your phone is gen1 or gen2 and will automatically install correct version. If you have updated your phone to gen3 (you should know), you have to install patcher after you've installed the ROM (see add-on section below). Wipe data/factory reset before installing. No wipe, no whine. It appears quite a few people (including myself) have decided to purchase the Metal due to the excellent price at Expansys. Subsequently, I reckon there are going to be a few questions on how to install a custom ROM etc. so I've put together this guide. This guide isn't really my own I've just taken the information from here, here and here and aggregated it. How to install a Custom ROM 1.) Download Gingerbread: http://vache-android....php?fileID=124 2.) Extract the "acer_ug" folder from the zip file on your SDCard (optional) : Reboot in recovery and wipe all/factory reset 3.) Power off your phone 4.) Boot to SD Download Mode with Camera / Vol- / Power (the phone will vibrate 3 times) 5.) Wait until it has finished, the phone will reboot 6.) Activate USB debugging on your phone.(How to) 7.) Plug your phone to your computer with your USB cable 8.) Download Recovery 3.0: http://vache-android....php?fileID=125 9.) Unzip the "RecoveryMT-3.0" folder from the zip file 10.) Launch "install_recovery.cmd" 11.) Download your custom ROM e.g. http://android.modac...y-301-05112011/ and copy and paste either files onto the SDCard 12.) Boot into recovery mode using Volume Up + Focus + Power 13.) Select 'Wipe Data/Factory Reset' (don't wipe the SD Card). 14.) Go back and select 'Install .zip from SDCard' and browse to the ROM file, confirm. 15.) Enjoy Important Note: SD Download Mode (Step 4) checks if the language in the BIN files are consistent, this may mean you need to use the Acer Download Tool from here to flash BIN files of a different language. It's probably a good idea to try this utility if you get error messages at step 4. Flash the BIN file in /acer_ug/acer_xx/whateverfile.bin using the download tool, select the BIN File in the Merged OS File section. See screenshot attached. Thanks to Vache for instructions 1 to 10 & Thanks to lgcmn for the basic structure of the guide from this thread: http://android.modac...final-tl-metal/ & Thanks to Vikings123 for notifying me of the limitations of SD Download mode. Also, Thanks flibblesan for pinning this. Thanks for Chrishund for letting me borrow the instructions on how to root. Sorry if there are any mistakes or anything else to be aware of, if so please let me know and I'll amend them. Partitioning your SD Card for A2SD/Link2SD etc. For the guide I'll be using the Partition feature from AmonRa Recovery available here. You can use apps like Gparted etc. as well as ClockworkMod Recovery if you prefer. Before beginning you need to have rebooted into Recovery Mode. To this with the respective key combo's above or use 'ADB Reboot Recovery' when your phone is plugged into a computer with USB Debugging enabled. 1.) Mount your phone as USB or go into Recovery and select USB MS Toggle and plug the phone into a PC. 2.) IMPORTANT: Backup/Copy the entire contents of your SD Card onto your PC. 3.) Unmount/Disable USB MS and either reboot or go back to recovery. 4.) Select Partition SD. 5.) For the sizes select 0 for Swap. Make the EXT size at least 512MB for A2SD and the rest should be FAT32. 6.) Confirm. All your data on the SD Card will be lost. 7.) Let it complete. 8.) Re-enable USB MS toggle and copy the contents of your SD Card back onto the phone. 9.) Now, you can either do a full wipe and start with a fresh ROM or reboot and try setup Link2SD etc. (Personally, I'd just do a full wipe and start fresh but it's up to you). If you have problems e.g. force closes etc. then do a full wipe. 10.) Enjoy. How to Root Non-Rooted ROM's 1.) Follow steps 6-10 of 'How to install a custom ROM above. Note: If your PC doesn't recognize the phone then you may need to install Acer Sync. 2.) Download this and copy it onto your SDCard. 3.) Now turn off the phone and boot into recovery mode Volume Up + Focus + Power (For ClockworkMod). Down + Focus (Press Camera button Gently) + Power for AmonRA. 4. Choose 'install .zip from SD Card' and find the Superuser.zip install and reboot.

ICS on Racer File deleted because no sense in it, we will wait more than a normal assembly for blade, or who may decide to collect from the source. For the time being we can discuss their ideas and news, if that appears more or less worthy, let me know, I secured in the first message, that would not create a new topic.

Here is my unofficial MoDaCo build of ClockworkMod for the ZTE Skate / aka Orange Monte Carlo. You use this image at your own risk! Proceed with caution! ClockworkMod Recovery 4.0.1.4 unofficial MoDaCo Edition - DOWNLOAD (Mediafire Pro) - MD5: 8550e90105f299d65c4022f61df70de6 The superboot image is also 'insecure', allowing you to use 'adb remount' as well as having full ADB root access to your device. How to install - Windows, Linux and OSX - Download the zip file above and extract to a directory - Ensure USB debugging is enabled in 'Settings -> Development' and that, if on Windows, you have installed any requested drivers - WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat' - MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh' followed by './install-recovery-mac.sh' - LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh' followed by 'sudo ./install-recovery-linux.sh' That's it! Enjoy! ;) You can reboot to recovery by issuing the 'adb reboot recovery' command or using a reboot utility from the Android Market. P

malezRecovery_0.6.2.img + easy installer Unfortunatly google code is now down. http://code.google.c...malez-recovery/ Recovery v0.6.2 is available here http://www51.zippyshare.com/v/55939117/file.html If you enjoy what i do, i would really apprecite that you place a little gift. I spend a lot of time and any gift would greatly be appreciated. Here you can find my custom recovery wich works with both liquid 1.6 and liquid E 2.1 rom. If you have a Acer Liquid E Ferrari Edition, use the specific recovery The recovery images will not work on factory AAP, CSL or FET devices untill you do a full flash An updgrade via acer download tools is needed. You will have to flash to an EMEA rom (thanks to Nova2.1 for his help) Important notes to rom providers In order to make your rom compatible with apps2sd, you need to mount the ext sd card partition to /system/sd, otherwise, system won't boot if apps are stored on the sd card ext partition. Liquid Community rom (LCR) since v1.2.3 is compatible with apps2sd It is always safer to enable/disable apps2sd via recovery rather than is os mode. I have finally gotten everything to work. It definitely works on Rogers, and probably works on Fido (I haven't changed anything carrier specific, anyone want to test this?) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HW7OFSNW I have modified Malez' recovery installer scripts (Windows/Mac/Linux - to the best of my ability) to stop the reboot and give further instructions that will be listed here as well. Steps: a) Download my modified Malez' recovery scripts :D Extract the Modified Recovery.zip and put "update_signed.zip" on your SD Card. c) Run the corresponding Malez Recovery Script to your OS d) At the end of the script, press enter to close the installer, pop your battery in and out, and boot into Recovery (Vol - + Camera + Power) e) MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP f) SEE STEP E! g) Flash the provided update_signed.zip and reboot h) Done! You should have no issue with Malez recovery not staying on the device anymore. Report any issues to me in this thread. If you appreciate my work, say thanks to me (as well as Malez (original recovery scripts ofc and vache - helped me a lot in this, thanks!) on the forums, I want to know my work didn't go to waste, but I don't want your money either. Harness :P Edit: I just noticed I included a garbage file I had in the zip. It's called install-recovery.sh - Ignore it! All it says is "# blank file for testing"

Hello my friends. Our great developer zhidzihu has done it again. He has ported a test version of Ice Cream Sandwich to the X10. The rom is in it’s early alpha stages so not a lot of things are working. But it’s cool to have. Anyways. The link is below to his thread. All requirements and things are listed down there. There’s a video below also. The Ice Cream Sandwich Rom More information and Rom are available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356580 PS. I plan to release my updates to Lion's Fury and Gingervillain on Wednesday. But for now have fun with some Ice Cream,

It won't work smooth without proper graphic drivers which are not ready yet. It's copied from samdroid and it's not a problem to run it (actually You can do it very easily). BUT do You want stable one or the newest but not fully working? Last but not least: You can test/make it Yourself and it will be Your contribution to the community. Just look at beta2 to beta3 update and You will know differences. Additionally You won't have IMEI and will probably have problems with neighbouring cells for GSM.

I know its a late reply, but maybe you are still interested. The one I made is for stock Gen 2 phones. The radio partitions in those phones take up 15MB more space than in Gen 1 phones that have been converted to Gen 2. That's why the total amount of space is 15MB smaller than wbaw's. In KonstaT's TPT, the 1MB difference is due to rounding and small differences in the sizes of some of the other partitions.

built n257+2 with patch4, get it from the usual place to test it out i restored proximity to default, rebooted and calibrated and it generated "7843,6274,238,238,246,0,0,16,32", much higher than i used to get, but they do seem to work. autobrightness seems to work again - and light sensor actually returns values like 96/200 now not -1/1 like it did with patch3. i didn't bother with changing the levels. other than the kernel its pretty much the same as n257+ with the patches listed in my sig below.

Most likely it is airpush. It's an ad network that some developers choose, and the ads are delivered in the form of notification spam. There is an app called airpush detector, use it. Before you uninstall the culprit app, be sure to leave a bad rating.

It wasn't possible to port ICS from the sdk image as it was complied for ARMv7. With the source code that has been released now it is possible.

A description of this 'fix' so people know what to do. I returned to stock and realized what the fuss was all about. In the shipped Acer Liquid E configurations, the recovery partition is designed to be rewritten upon normal bootup of the system. To install a custom recovery permanently on a stock Acer Liquid E with Android 2.2, this bootup behavior has to be altered. This behavior can be altered by changing the affected file alone, or by flashing a custom ROM which replaces the relevant files. To install Malez recovery, you can still run the install script, provided that you DO NOT REBOOT the phone into normal bootup mode when the script asks during fastboot, after the custom recovery image has already been installed. Now you will want to unplug the device (and pull the battery) to turn the thing off. Then you can reboot the phone into recovery mode (vol -, camera, power -> phone vibrates three times). Rememeber that to press the camera button, you need to depress fully so you trigger the camera action, not the camera focus. If successful, you will boot into Malez recovery, where you can install a custom firmware of your choice. After the custom firmware is installed, you do not have to worry about the recovery being overwritten. In recovery mode, navigate using the volume buttons, and select with the menu button. Back returns to the previous option. Not sure if the update.zip removed install_recovery.sh, flash_image, or altered init.rc.
